16. Signal Transduction in Photoreceptor Proteins : Insights From Time-Resolved X-ray Solution Scattering
Sammanfattning : The ability to sense and react to different light conditions is of great importance for many organisms on the face of the earth. Specialized proteins known as photoreceptor proteins provide bacteria, plants and animals with this ability. LÄS MER
17. X-Ray Diagnostics in Combustion - Study of Particle Formation in Flames Using Combined Small- and Wide-Angle X-Ray Scattering
Sammanfattning : In the thesis work, two X-ray scattering techniques, small- and wide-angle X-ray scattering (SAXS and WAXS) were combined to study particle formation in-situ and non-intrusively in ethylene laboratory flames. Combining these two techniques enabled information concerning the size and concentration as well as the subnanometer structure of the nanoparticles within the 1–100 nm range there to be obtained. 18. Soft X-ray Emission Spectroscopy of Liquids and Lithium Battery Materials
Sammanfattning : Lithium ion insertion into electrode materials is commonly used in rechargeable battery technology. The insertion implies changes in both the crystal structure and the electronic structure of the electrode material. LÄS MER
19. Simulations of ultrafast photon-matter interactions for molecular imaging with X-ray lasers
Sammanfattning : Biological structure determination has had new avenues of investigation opened due to the introduction of X-ray free-electron lasers (XFELs). These X-ray lasers provide an extreme amount of photons on ultrafast timescales used to probe matter, and in particular biomolecules. LÄS MER
20. Molecular electronic, vibrational and rotational motion in optical and x-ray fields
Sammanfattning : The subject of this theoretical study is the role ofelectronic structure as well as of rotational and vibrational motionson interactions between molecules and electromagnetic radiation, ranging from optical to x-ray. The thesis concerns both linear and nonlinear regimes of the light-matter interaction. LÄS MER
