  1. 6. Cross-modal Imaging in Lung Research: From µCT dosimetry to synchrotron phase contrast microtomography biomechanical insights in preclinical lung injury models

    Författare :Richard Deyhle Jr; Malmö Medicinsk strålningsfysik; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Thermoluminescent Dosimetry; Optically stimulated luminescence OSL ; Computed tomography CT ; 4DCT; Phantoms; Imaging; X-rays; pre-clinical models; Pre-clinical; dosimetry: physical basis; biomedical strain; lung injury; mechanical ventilation; inflammation; lung function; synchrotron; histology; acute respiratory distress syndrome ARDS ; Ventilator Inudced Lung Injury VILI ; Histology; Forced Oscillation Technique FOT ; Divergence Theorem; Registration techniques;

    Sammanfattning : Lung diseases continue to present a large burden to public health, especially in industrialized countries. For abetter understanding of the underlying patho-mechanisms in lung related diseases as well as for testing theefficacy of novel therapies, preclinical studies in animal models are indispensable. 2. 7. Molar Incisor Hypomineralization

    Författare :Tobias G Fagrell; Göteborgs universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Teeth; Molar Insicor Hypomineralisation; hypomineralisation; Enamel; Etiology; ozone; Scanning electron microscopy;

    Sammanfattning : Overall aim: The general objective of this thesis was to enhance the understanding of Molar Incisor Hypomineralization (MIH) in areas of the histological, chemical and mechanical properties of the hypomineralized enamel, objective and subjective clinical symptoms in relation to bacteria findings. Further, to estimate a time for onset of the disturbance and investigate possible etiological factors. LÄS MER

  3. 8. Structure and Mechanical Behaviour of Wood-Fibre Composites

    Författare :Thomas Joffre; E. Kristofer Gamstedt; Stéphane Avril; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY;

    Sammanfattning : Wood fibres have several advantages compared to man-made synthetic fibres: they have high specific stiffness, are renewable, relatively inexpensive, available in industrial quantities and biodegradable. However, to increase and diversify their utilisation, it is necessary to increase the understanding on what controls their mechanical properties. LÄS MER

  4. 9. Image Analysis for Trabecular Bone Properties on Cone-Beam CT Data

    Författare :Eva Klintström; Örjan Smedby; Rodrigo Moren; Torkel Brismar; Dan Mellström; Linköpings universitet; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY;

    Sammanfattning : Trabecular bone structure as well as bone mineral density (BMD) have impact on the biomechanical competence of bone. In osteoporosis-related fractures, there have been shown to exist disconnections in the trabecular network as well as low bone mineral density. Imaging of bone parameters is therefore of importance in detecting osteoporosis. LÄS MER

  5. 10. The Anabolic - Anti-catabolic Paradigm of Augmenting Skeletal Regeneration: A Bone Quality Perspective

    Författare :Neashan Mathavan; Avdelningen för Biomedicinsk teknik; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Bone fracture; Fracture healing; bone quality; Bone biomechanics; bone morphogenetic protein-7; Zoledronate; skeletal regeneration;

    Sammanfattning : Successful fracture repair is a complex series of coordinated processes leading to regeneration of new bone to bridge the fracture site, remodelling of the newly formed bone and restoration of skeletal function. Disruption of these processes occurs in approximately 10% of all fractures and leads to delayed or failed healing requiring surgical interventions, increased complication rates, prolonged rehabilitation and high morbidity.
