  1. 6. Shaping Macroporous Ceramics : templated synthesis, X-ray tomography and permeability

    Författare :Linnéa Andersson; Lennart Bergström; Ludwig Gauckler; Stockholms universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Alumina; ceramic; CO2 capture; colloidal processing; expandable microspheres; gel casting; layer-by-layer; macroporosity; near-net shape; non-destructive evaluation; permeability; porosity; sacrificial templating; X-ray computed tomography; Chemistry; Kemi; Materials Chemistry; materialkemi;

    Sammanfattning : Macroporous ceramic materials have found widespread technological application ranging from particulate filters in diesel engines, tissue engineering scaffolds, and as support materials in carbon capture processes. This thesis demonstrates how the pore space of macroporous alumina can be manipulated, analysed in three-dimensions (3D) using visualisation techniques, and functionalised with a CO2-adsorbing material. 2. 7. High resolution laboratory x-ray tomography for biomedical research : From design to application

    Författare :Till Dreier; Lund Medicinsk strålningsfysik; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; x-ray; computed tomography; micro-CT; nano-CT; phase contrast; biomedical; super-resolution; material decomposition;

    Sammanfattning : Laboratory x-ray micro- and nano-tomography are emerging techniques in biomedical research. Through the use of phase-contrast, sufficient contrast can be achieved in soft tissue to support medical studies. LÄS MER

  3. 8. X-ray and neutron μCT of biomedical samples: from image acquisition to quantification

    Författare :Niccoló Peruzzi; Lund Medicinsk strålningsfysik; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; x-ray imaging; neutron imaging; μCT; synchrotron radiation; x-ray phase-contrast; nanoholotomography; x-ray elemental mapping; biomedical applications; virtual histology; biodegradable implants; Mg-alloys; enteric nervous system; peripheral neuropathy; gastroenteric dysmotility; Fysicumarkivet A:2021:Peruzzi;

    Sammanfattning : Even though the validity of x-ray computed tomography in the analysis of biomedical samples is nowadays undisputed, the more recent imaging techniques and more advanced instruments (such as synchrotrons) are still relatively unknown to many medical doctors that could benefit from them.The doctoral work presented in this thesis joins a collective effort from the imaging community to demonstrate potential applications of advanced x-ray and neutron imaging methods to preclinical medical research, with the hope of contributing to reach a “critical mass” in the medical community and in the public opinion as well. 4. 9. Application of X-ray Computed Tomography for Assessment of Additively Manufactured Products

    Författare :Amir Reza Zekavat; Lars Pejryd; Leonardo De Chiffre; Örebro universitet; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Additive manufacturing; X-ray computed tomography; Surface roughness;

    Sammanfattning : Additive Manufacturing (AM) is a novel method for fabricating parts from three-dimensional model data, usually by joining materials in layer upon layer fashion. The freedom of design in this method has resulted in new possibilities for fabrication of parts with complex geometries. LÄS MER

  5. 10. Evaluation of Asphalt Field Cores with Simple Performance Tester and X-ray Computed Tomography

    Författare :Florentina Angela Farcas; Björn Birgisson; Xiaohu Lu; KTH; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; asphalt mixture; dynamic modulus; flow number; simple performance tester; X-ray computed tomography; air voids distribution;

    Sammanfattning : The importance of aggregate structure and air voids distribution for asphalt mixture rutting and cracking performance has been well established on the basis of experience and is well documented in the literature. Past and current investigations are limited to assessment of performance based on macroscopic behavior due to the difficulty associated with the quantitative measurement and analysis of the internal structure of asphalt mixtures.
