1. Spontaneous and stimulated X-ray Raman scattering
Sammanfattning : The present thesis is devoted to theoretical studies of resonant X-ray scattering and propagation of strong X-ray pulses. In the first part of the thesis the nuclear dynamics of different molecules is studied using resonant X-ray Raman and resonant Auger scattering techniques. LÄS MER
2. Development and Application of Non-linear Mid-infrared Laser Spectroscopy for Combustion Diagnostics
Sammanfattning : The work reported in this thesis involved the development and application of two novel infrared non-linear laser techniques, namely mid-infrared polarization spectroscopy (IRPS) and mid-infrared degenerate four-wave mixing (IR-DFWM) to combustion diagnostics. These two techniques meet the needs of species concentration detection in combustion environments, especially for those species lacking accessible electronic (one-photon) transitions in the ultraviolet (UV) or visible spectral region. 3. Epigenetics in nasopharyngeal carcinoma
Sammanfattning : Nasopharyngeal carcinoma (NPC) shows a remarkably distinctive ethnic and geographic distribution among the world suggesting that genetic susceptibility backgrounds cooperate with the environmental risk factors in etiology of NPCs. Among the environmental factors, much attention has been focused on a well-documented association with Epstein-Barr virus (EBV), which can be detected in 100% undifferentiated NPCs. LÄS MER
4. Antibiotic resistance in biogas processes
Sammanfattning : Anaerobic digestion (AD) is a well-established technology that can play a key role in development of a sustainable society. In AD, organic wastes such as animal manure, food waste and crop residues are used as substrate and converted to biogas and digestate, which represent green energy and a biofertiliser. LÄS MER
5. Characterization of regulatory factors controlling tip growth in Nicotiana tabacum pollen tubes
Sammanfattning : Rho GTPases constitute a family of highly conserved signaling proteins with key functions in the regulation of cellular polarization and polar cell growth. In plants, Rho GTPases are represented by a plant specific subfamily referred to as Rac/Rop GTPases. LÄS MER
