    Sammanfattning : This thesis studies the intertwinement of economy and emotions within the context of modernity. By investigating how work and romantic love interact in fiction films from the period 1930 to 1955, I seek to shed light on how two cultural practices that might normally be assumed to belong to separate dimensions of life – the economic and the emotional – are actually closely connected to each other.     Sammanfattning : This dissertation contributes to the debate on street-level bureaucracy, which highlights how the decisions made by workers in public bureaucracies effectively become public policy. This debate has paid relatively little attention to the study of how professionals carry out their work by means of institutional categorization, a knowledge gap that this study helps to close.     Sammanfattning : This thesis aims at systematically studying the possibilities of minimizing devastating consequences of high-speed rail vehicle derailments by appropriate measures and features in the train design including the running gear. Firstly, an empirical database is established containing as much relevant information as possible of past incidents and accidents that have occurred at substantial running speeds due to mechanical failure close to the interface between the running gear and the track.     Sammanfattning : This study critically reconstructs, analyzes, and assesses reasons for embracing panentheism or pantheism instead of classical theism. It argues that, when analyzing the adequacy of a conception of God, pragmatic reasons related to harms or benefits are equally important as epistemic reasons that relate to truth and correspondence.
