1. Workplace Ethics : Some practical and foundational problems
Sammanfattning : The aim of the present thesis is twofold: first, to analyse some practical ethical problems that stem from the workplace and the working environment and to offer guidelines concerning how such problems can be solved; second, to illuminate how the specific nature of work and the working environment is intimately connected to the relation between the employee and the employing entity, as set forth in an employment contract, and how the form and content of such contracts are, among other things, determined by culturally and socially established ideas. The normative question to be addressed is thus: which of these ideas should be maintained? This can be seen as a second-order, or more fundamental, ethical question whose answer depends on determining which normative principles are right. LÄS MER
2. A pathway into the profession : The use, feasibility and outcomes of a peer learning intervention for nursing students and newly graduated nurses
Sammanfattning : The overall aim of present thesis was to study the use, feasibility and outcomes of a peer learning intervention for nursing students and new graduates, including studies using a quasi-experimental (Study I and III), descriptive (Study II) and mixed-methods (Study IV) design. 4. Addressing equality and diversity in the workplace through recruitment materials : an equality monitoring approach
Sammanfattning : Equality, diversity and inclusion (EDI) statements have been used as part of diversity management in human resources for some time and research suggests they are generally perceived positively and can increase organizational attraction in underrepresented groups, thus promoting diversity and inclusion. The main aim of this doctoral dissertation is to examine the effects of a particular diversity management practice called equality monitoring (EM) and investigate public perceptions of EM and effects on behaviour such as applications, intentions to pursue a job and organizational attraction. 5. Saving energy at sea: seafarers’ adoption, appropriation and enactment of technologies supporting energy efficiency
Sammanfattning : The shipping industry is currently facing a major challenge related to environmental sustainability and energy efficiency. New regulations and ambitious international goals that aim at mitigating carbon-based emissions with 50 %, demands on profitability, along with a growing awareness about the climate change, has prompted the maritime sector to increasingly focus on how to improve energy efficiency and reduce fuel consumption in ship operations.
