Sammanfattning : The overall aim of the research presented in this thesis was to gain increased knowledge and understanding of aspects and actors that contribute to the preconditions and outcomes for proactive health and safety managementregarding vibration exposure. The main objectives were: 1) to investigate carpenters´ perceptions of the proactive health and safety management at their work sites, and 2) to carry out an exploratory investigation of the aspectsand actors that can influence the implementation of planned change processes in four industries regarding lowvibration hand-held power tools. Sammanfattning : (We Who Stayed at Volvo – An Ethnological Study of Senior Automobile-Industry Blue-Collar Workers’ Working-Lives and Future Plans) The starting points for this doctoral thesis are two much discussed issues in Sweden: the consequences of the demographic development with an ageing population and the changes that have taken place in the working life in Sweden as a result of, or in response to, the so called globalisation. 24. "Så gör vi inte här i Sverige. Vi brukar göra så här" : Retorik och praktik i LO:s invandrarpolitik 1945-1981
Sammanfattning : The primary purpose of this thesis is to analyse the Swedish Trade Union Confederation, the LO’s, mediated rhetoric, arguments and social and institutional practices in the process of forming the LO’s policy regarding the introduction, incorporation and participation of immigrants in Swedish society in general, the workplace and the trade union movement in the period 1945–1981. The theoretical purpose is to explore how power relations of superiority and subordination based primarily on the categories of class, ethnicity and nation, but also on gender and to some extent generation, have been formed through ideological processes of inclusion and boundary drawing in rhetorical speeches, texts and institutional practices within the framework of an explicit class-based community as the LO constituted.
