  2. 2. Thermophysical Properties of Aqueous Solutions Used as Secondary Working Fluids

    Författare :Åke Melinder; Björn Palm; Antero Aittomäki; KTH; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Secondary working fluids; secondary refrigerants; indirect systems; aqueous solutions; ice slurry; thermophysical properties; freezing point; density; viscosity; specific heat; thermal conductivity; Mechanical and thermal engineering; Mekanisk och termisk energiteknik;

    Sammanfattning : Secondary working fluids (secondary refrigerants, heat transfer fluids, antifreezes, brines) have long been used in various indirect re-frigeration and heat pump systems. Aqueous solutions (water solu-tions) have long been used as single phase (liquid only) secondary working fluids for cooling in supermarkets, ice rinks, heat recovery systems, heat pumps and other applications. Sammanfattning : The aim of the work presented in this thesis is to contribute to an increased knowledge regarding the basic surface chemistry of water based metal working fluids, in particular the relation between aggregational behaviour in solution and the formation of technical important adsorption layers of e.g. LÄS MER

  4. 4. Low Temperature Waste Heat Recovery in Internal Combustion Engines

    Författare :Vikram Singh; Förbränningsmotorer; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Low Temperature Waste Heat Recovery; Rankine cycle; Coolant Temperature; Working Fluids;

    Sammanfattning : Over the past few decades, the automotive industry has increasingly looked towards increasing the efficiency of the internal combustion engine to meet more stringent emission norms and as a measure to meet demands for improved air quality in cities. One method to improve the internal combustion engine efficiency is to recover some of the energy lost to the coolant and the exhaust using a secondary thermodynamic cycle such as an Organic Rankine Cycle. 5. 5. Advanced power cycles with mixture as the working fluid

    Författare :Maria Jonsson; KTH; []
    Nyckelord :power cycle; mixture working fluid; Kalina cycle; ammonia-water mixture; reciprocating internal combustion engine; bottoming cycle; gas turbine; evaporative gas turbine; air-water mixture; exergy;

    Sammanfattning : The world demand for electrical power increasescontinuously, requiring efficient and low-cost methods forpower generation. This thesis investigates two advanced powercycles with mixtures as the working fluid: the Kalina cycle,alternatively called the ammonia-water cycle, and theevaporative gas turbine cycle. LÄS MER
