  1. 6. Online characterization of wood pulp : foundations for a photoacoustic sensing technique

    Författare :Jan Niemi; Mike Somekh; Luleå tekniska universitet; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Industriell elektronik; Industrial Electronics;

    Sammanfattning : Today, there is an increasing demand in the paper industry for better utilisation of the raw material and improved energy efficiency. Also, the increasing use of recycled paper in the manufacturing process leads to a situation where the knowledge of pulp properties needs to be improved and controlled. LÄS MER

  2. 7. Mechanical Pulp Based Nano-ligno-cellulose : Production, Characterisation and their Effect on Paper Properties

    Författare :Sinke Henshaw Osong; Per Engstrand; Sven Norgren; Kristin Syverud; Mittuniversitetet; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; mechanical pulp; thermo-mechanical pulp; chemi-thermomechanical pulp; fractionation; fines; homogenisation; nanocellulose; nano-ligno-cellulose NLC ; handsheets; strength properties; crill;

    Sammanfattning : Almost all research on biorefinery concepts are based on chemical pulping processes and ways of utilising lignin, hemicelluloses and extractives as well as a part of the remaining cellulose for production of nano materials in order to create more valuable products than today. Within the Forest as a Resource (FORE) research program at FSCN we are utilising the whole chain of unit processes from forestry to final products as paper and board, where the pulping process research focus on high yield process as TMP and CTMP. 3. 8. Processing and properties of thermoplastic composites containing cellulose nanocrystals or wood-based cellulose fibres

    Författare :Lilian Forsgren; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Extrusion; Cellulose nanocrystals; Cellulose; Thermal stability; Tensile properties; Wood-based fibres; Injection moulding; Composite;

    Sammanfattning : Cellulose nanocrystals (CNC) were surface modified with dialkylamines to increase the compatibility between the CNC and the polymeric matrix, and promising results were obtained, with a 300 % stiffness increase when the mixed dispersion was compression moulded on a laboratory scale. The manufacturing process was up-scaled using water-assisted mixing in a twin-screw extruder (TSE) followed by a second compounding step and injection moulding (IM). LÄS MER

  4. 9. Particle Measurements Using Fluctuations in the Regular Transmittance of Light Through a Particle Dispersion : Concentration and Particles size - Theory, Measurement Principles and Applications for Pulp and Paper Production

    Författare :Staffan Rydefalk; Lars Mattsson; John Gregory; KTH; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Particle concentration; Particle size; Cylindrical particles; Large particles; Cellulose fibres; Wood pulp fibres; Suspensions; Particle length; Particle length distribution; Particle width; Manufacturing engineering; Produktionsteknik;

    Sammanfattning : The regular transmittance of light or similar radiation through a flowing suspension of particles fluctuates because of the random occurrence of particles in the beam.In the work presented here, a theory for this fluctuating behaviour with the emphasison dispersions of mm-length slender cylindrical particles having circular crosssections is given. 5. 10. Fundamental Aspects on the Re-use of Wood Based Fibres : Porous Structure of Fibres and Ink Detachment

    Författare :Jennie Forsström; Lars Wågberg; Krrister Holmberg; KTH; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Environmental technology; Miljöteknik; Environmental engineering; Miljöteknik;

    Sammanfattning : In this work, different aspects on the re-use of wood based fibres have been studied, focusing on ink detachment of flexographic ink from model cellulose surfaces and changes in porous structure of kraft fibres following different treatments. New model systems for evaluation of ink detachment and ink-cellulose interactions were used. LÄS MER
