  1. 1. Wnt/β-catenin Signaling and Epigenetic Deregulation in Breast Cancer and Parathyroid Tumours

    Författare :Jessica Svedlund; Gunnar Westin; Göran Åkerström; Peyman Björklund; Ola Nilsson; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Wnt signaling; parathyroid; epigenetic; Medicin; Medicine; Biology with specialization in Molecular Biology; Biologi med inriktning mot molekylärbiologi;

    Sammanfattning : The Wnt/β-catenin signaling pathway is often deregulated in cancer. Here we investigate Wnt/β-catenin signaling, aberrant accumulation of β-catenin, and epigenetic deregulation in breast cancer and parathyroid tumours. LÄS MER

  2. 2. Genetic Studies of Alzheimer's Disease

    Författare :Elin Blom; Anna Glaser; Martin Ingelsson; Lars Lannfelt; Jan Hillert; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Alzheimer s disease; Linkage; Affected sib-pairs; APOE; APP duplication; 10q21; 19q13; Wnt signaling; Geriatrics and medical gerontology; Geriatrik och medicinsk gerontologi;

    Sammanfattning : Patients with Alzheimer's disease (AD) often have a family history of the disease, implicating genetics as a major risk factor. Three genes are currently known to cause familial early-onset AD (65 years), only the APOE gene has repeatedly been associated to AD, where the ε4 allele increases disease risk and decreases age at onset. 3. 3. Molecular Studies of Diamond-Blackfan Anemia and Congenital Nail Dysplasia

    Författare :Anne-Sophie Fröjmark; Niklas Dahl; Catharina Larsson; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Diamond-Blackfan Anemia; RPS19; RPS24; PIM-1; Erythropoiesis; Cell cycle; Apoptosis; Nail dysplasia; FZD6; WNT signaling; Clinical genetics; Klinisk genetik;

    Sammanfattning : The aim of this thesis is to investigate the effect of genetic mutations on the pathophysiology of two human disorders: Diamond-Blackfan Anemia (DBA) and isolated congenital nail dysplasia. The first part of this thesis (Paper I-III) investigates the mechanism associated with DBA. LÄS MER

  4. 4. Bone Development and the Nervous System

    Författare :Gregor Sisask; Olof Nilsson; Anders Bjurholm; Kenneth B Jonsson; André Stark; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Cell biology; Cellbiologi;

    Sammanfattning : Innervation of bone influence bone modeling, growth and remodeling. Pro-inflammatory cytokines released after tissue trauma are recognized as neurotrophic factors as well as factors influencing bone formation. The Wnt signaling pathway, essential for cell migration during embryogenesis is found to influence bone formation during fracture healing. LÄS MER

  5. 5. Analysis of signaling pathway activity in single cells using the in situ Proximity Ligation Assay

    Författare :Linda Arngården; Ola Söderberg; Niclas Karlsson; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :cell signaling; Wnt; Hippo; TGFB; Molekylär medicin; Molecular Medicine;

    Sammanfattning : A cell that senses signals from its environment uses proteins for signal transduction via post translational modifications (PTMs) and protein- protein interactions (PPIs) from cell membrane into the nucleus where genes controlling cell proliferation, differentiation and apoptosis can be turned on or off, i.e. LÄS MER
