1. Teenage childbearing in Sweden : support from social network and midwife
Sammanfattning : The aim of this thesis was to contribute to the knowledge and understanding of Swedish- speaking pregnant and parenting teenage girls’ situation and experiences of becoming mothers in the Swedish context as well as midwives’ reflections on their experiences of caring for teenage girls during pregnancy and childbirth.Specific aims were to describe Swedish teenage girls’ perspectives, experiences and thoughts about becoming and being a teenage mother (I); to describe Swedish midwives’ reflections on their experiences of caring for teenage girls during pregnancy and childbirth (II); to describe and compare a group of Swedish-speaking teenage mothers, aged 15-19, with adult mothers, aged 25-29, all of whom gave birth in hospital, in terms of sociodemographic background, perception of health during pregnancy, and social support (III); to describe and compare the perception of received social support, self-esteem and different background factors among teenage mothers, aged15-19, with and without depressive symptoms (IV). 2. Regionen och EU? : Uppfattningar och attityder till EU-relaterade frågor i Västsverige
Sammanfattning : This thesis explores perceptions and preferences on regional action in EU-related frameworks among regional actors in Western Sweden. Building upon the literature on Europeanisation and the Fusion approach, three dimensions of Europeanisation are clarified and explored– download, upload and crossload – and together with a set of five variables that constitute the Micro Fusion Framework; a comprehensive analytical tool is developed. 3. Cannabis discourses in contemporary Sweden : Continuity and change
Sammanfattning : The aim of this thesis is to study how cannabis is constructed in contemporary Sweden, which policy responses are promoted as rational, and how international cannabis trends are received in this context. The four papers are the result of analyzing empirical material from three different sub-studies: 1) a qualitative study of online discussions about cannabis and drug policy, 2) a qualitative and comparative study of print media articles from 2002 and 2012, and 3) a qualitative study of oral presentations from cannabis information symposia. 4. Sveconorwegian orogenesis in the southwestern Baltic Shield - Zircon geochronology and tectonothermal setting of orthogneisses in SW Sweden
Sammanfattning : The Mylonite zone (MZ) is a prominent late-Sveconorwegian lithological terrane boundary in the SW Baltic Shield along which large-scale crustal block movements took place during the Sveconorwegian orogeny. The southern section of the MZ also defines a conspicuous metamorphic break separating upper amphibolite and high-pressure granulite facies rocks in the parautochthonous Eastern Segment (ES), from middle amphibolite facies rocks in the overlying Western Segment (WS). 5. Success at work and in family life : studies in selected Western fertility and family dynamics
Sammanfattning : This thesis contains three studies that address the issues of childbearing and working life and the connection between working life and success in family life.
