    Sammanfattning : The study examines the assumption that mothers in poverty stricken areas with high rates of fertility and child mortality will, as a survival strategy, neglect their children, sometimes with a fatal outcome and then fail to mourn their death.     Sammanfattning : The thesis explores the meaning and function of tears in Roman political culture during the Republic and the Early Empire in various historical settings: mourning, the law court, and in different political contexts where power, authority, and subjection were expressed or exercised. This is carried through by reading representations of weeping in Greek and Latin literary works in different genres, written by different authors. LÄS MER

    Sammanfattning : This thesis accrues to the growing field of Latin American horror scholarship in relation to gender and sexuality, discussing the implications of the representation of the feminized, racialized and/or impoverished monster in relation to Mexican and Argentinian national identity discourses. The thesis looks at two distinct iterations of gendered monstrosity in Mexican and Argentinian visual culture: La Llorona and the bruja (witch), respectively. LÄS MER
