  1. 11. Modified Starches in aqueous and plastisol coating

    Författare :Agneta Jansson; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Starch; Polyvinyl alcohol; Water vapor barrier; Tensile properties; Rheology; Chemical Engineering; Kemiteknik;

    Sammanfattning : The interest for coatings containing renewable materials has enlarged in the last decade. Materials from the nature are investigated like starch, cellulose derivatives, protein (gelatin), chitosane by many. In this study potato starch has been used. LÄS MER

  2. 12. Polymer-coated paper and board - Role of substrate, polymer characteristics and additives

    Författare :Thomas Schuman; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; surface energy; latex; surface roughness; corona; contact angle; barrier properties; liquid sorption; surface treatment; calendering; poly vinyl alcohol ; coating;

    Sammanfattning : The surface roughness of paper or board has a significant influence on the homogeneity of an applied polymer film, and this thesis discusses how it may be improved by a surface treatment, e.g. high-temperature calendering or precoating. LÄS MER

  3. 13. Structural design and properties of hydrogel biomaterials

    Författare :Mikael Larsson; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Polyacrylic acid; Mechanical properties; Microfibrillated cellulose; Drug release; Chitosan; Biomaterials; Swelling; Hydrogels;

    Sammanfattning : Today a range of materials are used in medical applications; such materials are collectively denoted as biomaterials. A special class of biomaterials currently given much scientific interest is hydrogels. In particular a contemporary research topic is to create multicomponent materials in which synergetic effects are achieved. LÄS MER

  4. 14. Mass and Heat Transport in Dryer Fabrics - Experiments and Modelling

    Författare :Simon Smrtnik; Avdelningen för kemiteknik; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; heat transport; dryer fabric design; fabric parameters; mass transport; condensation;

    Sammanfattning : A dryer fabric is used in the multi-cylinder dryer in order to improve the runnability of the web and to establish proper contact between the web and the hot cylinder, thus improving the heat transport. The dryer fabric separates the hot and moist paper from the ambient drying air and significantly influences the mass and heat transport. LÄS MER

  5. 15. Aqueous graphene dispersions for paper packaging

    Författare :Wei Zhao; Anwar Ahniyaz; Abhilash Sugunan; Thomas Gillgren; Johan A. Larsson; Zhi-Bin Zhang; Shi-Li Zhang; Valeria Nicolosi; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Graphene; Aqueous graphene dispersions; Noncovalent interactions; Composites; Barriers; Inkjet printing; Kemi med inriktning mot kemisk fysik; Chemistry with specialization in Chemical Physics;

    Sammanfattning : Graphene is widely touted as the thinnest and the most versatile material available. As an atomically thin layer of carbon atoms arranged in a hexagonal configuration, graphene has a combination of technologically important properties, such as thermal and electrical conductivity, mechanical strength, and impermeability to gases.
