11. Failure Monitoring and Asset Condition Assessment in Water Supply Systems
Sammanfattning : In this thesis, different aspects of failure management in urban water supply systems are discussed. As assets are getting older, the number of pipe failures is increasing and an efficient failure management strategy becomes important. LÄS MER
12. Consumer Trust in Drinking Water Supply - assessing the interface between the supplier and the consumer
Sammanfattning : This thesis explores the interface between the supplier and the consumer to identify factors that have influence on consumer trust in water supply. This is done through field studies in two different consumer situations: 1) Accra (Ghana) where access to water is limited and can be an everyday struggle and 2) Gothenburg (Sweden) where water is abundant and water supply is taken for granted. 13. Water supply in hard rock coastal regions : The effect of heterogeneity and kinematic porosity
Sammanfattning : Water resources in hard rock terrain are difficult to characterize due to heterogeneity and anisotropy in the fracture network, low porosities and limited recharge volumes available during the summer season. Three methods were developed and evaluated in order to assist in water supply planning. LÄS MER
14. Novel and ancient technologies for heating and cooling buildings
Sammanfattning : The basic issue of this thesis concerns one of the fundamental problems of the future of our society: How to meet the energy requirements for a large and growing world population while preserving our environment? This question is important for the world and the answers are complex and interwoven.Conventional energy sources, fossil and fissile, are polluting in the present and in the future: they erode the environment and their resources are limited. 15. Overcoming inertia to sustainable stormwater management practice
Sammanfattning : In Sweden, there is a growing receptivity for change to more sustainable stormwater practices using green infrastructure approaches. Unlike piped drainage systems they can have multiple benefits in use including flood control, pollutant removal and can add to the quality of urban space supporting green infrastructure through irrigation and providing cooling and an additional water source for supply.
