  1. 11. Insect diversity on clearcuts in boreal forest landscapes

    Författare :Diana Rubene; Sveriges lantbruksuniversitet; Sveriges lantbruksuniversitet; []

    Sammanfattning : Intensive management and loss of natural disturbance dynamics in boreal forests leads to habitat loss and degradation for forest dwelling species. As a consequence, many species have become threatened, especially those dependent on dead wood. LÄS MER

  2. 12. Links between activation and cytoskeletal regulation of B lymphocytes

    Författare :Gediminas Greicius; Edvard Smith; Stockholms universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; Zoological Developmental Biology; zoologisk utvecklingsbiologi;

    Sammanfattning : Interplay between adhesion molecules and the cytoskeleton is involved in many aspects of B lymphocyte behaviour during an immune response. Events such as cell polarisation and locomotion, collaboration with T lymphocytes and segregation in secondary lymphoid tissues all include mechanisms that recognise microenvironment and accordingly adjust morphological features of the cell. 3. 13. Signaling pathways in the activation and proliferation of Drosophila melanogaster blood cells

    Författare :Carl-Johan Zettervall; Marie Meister; Umeå universitet; []
    Nyckelord :innate immunity; cellular immunity; molecular signaling; molekylärbiologi; Molecular Biology;

    Sammanfattning : The larva of the fruit fly Drosophila melanogaster is an excellent model to study the molecular control of innate cellular immune responses. Cellular responses take place, and can be studied, following infestation of the wasp Leptopilina boulardi. This response includes proliferation and activation (differentiation) of the blood cells (hemocytes). LÄS MER

  4. 14. Understanding cellular and cytoskeletal dysregulation in immunodeficiency diseases

    Författare :Anton Sendel; Karolinska Institutet; Karolinska Institutet; []

    Sammanfattning : The immune system is a complex network of cells and molecules interacting to preserve the integrity and survival of the host by distinguishing self from non-self, and dysregulation of immune cells can lead to immunodeficiency, autoimmunity, and cancer. The cytoskeleton is essential for several important immune cell functions, including proliferation, movement, signaling, and vesicle trafficking. LÄS MER

  5. 15. Nora virus as a model to study persistent infection in Drosophila melanogaster

    Författare :Mazen Habayeb; Dan Hultmark; Joachim De Miranda; Molecular Biology; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Nora virus; Drosophial; persistence; transmission; RNAi; capsid proteins; Microbiology; immunology; infectious diseases; Mikrobiologi; immunologi; infektionssjukdomar; molekylärbiologi; Molecular Biology;

    Sammanfattning : Drosophila melanogaster has been widely used as a model organism to study the immune responses against bacteria, fungi, parasites and viruses. Here, I present a D. melanogaster virus as a model to study persistent virus infections. I have discovered and characterized the Nora virus, a small picorna-like RNA virus able to persistently infect D. LÄS MER
