    Författare :Sören Halvarsson; Håkan Edlund; Magnus Norgren; Thomas Amidon; Mittuniversitetet; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Rice; Wheat; Straw; MDF; HDF; UF; MUF; MDI; Non-resin; binderless MDF; Ash; Silicon; SEM; Hot-pressing; MOR; MOE; IB; Thickness swelling; MDF properties; fibre swelling; WRV; Refining; Defibration.; NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; Chemical engineering; Kemiteknik; Chemical process and manufacturing engineering; Kemisk process- och produktionsteknik;

    Sammanfattning : The purpose of this thesis was to develop an economical, sustainable, and environmentally friendly straw Medium Density Fibreboard (MDF) process, capable of full-scale manufacturing and to produce MDF of requested quality. The investigated straw was based on wheat (Triticum aestivum L.) and rice (Oryzae sativa L.). LÄS MER

  2. 2. Pulp strength enhancement by oxygen delignification

    Författare :Claudia Esteves; Elisabet Brännvall; Olena Sevastyanova; Sören Östlund; Christine Chirat; KTH; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; fiber charge; morphology; oxygen delignification; swellability; tensile properties; dragegenskaper; fiberladdningar; morfologi; svällningsförmåga; syrgasdelignifiering; Chemical Engineering; Kemiteknik;

    Sammanfattning : Oxygen delignification is widely used in the pulp and paper industry as a part of delignification process between the kraft cook and bleaching. However, its potential has not been fully utilized. LÄS MER

  3. 3. The effect of environment on refining efficiency of kraft pulps

    Författare :Marie Bäckström; Monica Ek; Lennart Salmén; Leif Robertsen; KTH; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Chemical Engineering; Kemiteknik;

    Sammanfattning : Although the pulp and paper mill processes have been operational for long time there is still a need to understand the unit operations in paper making and how they interact with the ingoing pulp material. This is crucial in order to fully utilize the potential of the wood as well as of the unit operations. LÄS MER

  4. 4. Model studies of cellulose fibers and films and their relation to paper strength

    Författare :Susanna Fält; KTH; []
    Nyckelord :absorption; carboxymethyl cellulose; cellulose fibers; dissolving pulps;

    Sammanfattning : The objectives of this work were (i) to develop a new methodfor the preparation of thin cellulose model films, (ii) to usethese model films for swelling measurements and (iii) to relatethe swelling of fibers and films to the dry strength ofpaper.In the new film preparation method, NMMO(N-methylmorpholine-N-oxide) was used to dissolve cellulose andDMSO (dimethyl sulfoxide) was added to control the viscosity ofthe cellulose solution. 5. 5. Fundamental Aspects on the Re-use of Wood Based Fibres : Porous Structure of Fibres and Ink Detachment

    Författare :Jennie Forsström; Lars Wågberg; Krrister Holmberg; KTH; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Environmental technology; Miljöteknik; Environmental engineering; Miljöteknik;

    Sammanfattning : In this work, different aspects on the re-use of wood based fibres have been studied, focusing on ink detachment of flexographic ink from model cellulose surfaces and changes in porous structure of kraft fibres following different treatments. New model systems for evaluation of ink detachment and ink-cellulose interactions were used. LÄS MER
