11. Low dose ketamine : analgesia and side-effects in patients and volunteers
Sammanfattning : There is a need for novel approaches in the pharmacological treatment of pain. In many pain states the present treatment options are insufficient. Altered processing in sensory pathways often underlies such intractable pain. LÄS MER
12. Breathe without pain : Clinical and experimental studies in patients and volunteers with special reference to ventilatory regilation
Sammanfattning : The major aims were, first, to study the advantages and disadvantages of intrathecal analgesia with bupivacaine and morphine with special reference to ventilation and pain relief and, second, to develop a method for studies of the ventilatory response to carbon dioxide and hypoxaemia in volunteers and in patients with varying degrees of ventilation-perfusion ratios.341 elderly patients undergoing major hip surgery perfonned under intrathecal analgesia or general anaesthesia and 31 young and healthy volunteers participated in this work. 13. Analgetic and algetic effects of adenosine in healthy volunteers and patients with coronary disease
Sammanfattning : Background: Adenosine is a bimodal neuromodulator with algesic and analgesic effects. The different effects of adenosine are partly due to the route of administration. Low-dose adenosine infusion induces analgesia at the same magnitude as morphine, while adenosine as bolus injection induces chest pain, similar in character as angina pectoris. LÄS MER
14. Toward ICT-enabled Co-production for Effective Crisis and Emergency Response
Sammanfattning : In contemporary society, public services struggle to maintain a high quality of service if the authority responsible for the service delivery experiences resource deficit and increased uncertainties and vulnerabilities. This thesis explores how information and communication technology (ICT) can enable new types of network collaborations – co-production – between government (municipalities) and citizens, for a more effective crisis and emergency response. 15. Drug metabolic capacity in Koreans : CYP2D6 & CYP2C19 pheno- and genotype relationships in healthy volunteers and in patients
Sammanfattning : This thesis aimed to investigate the relationship between pheno- and genotype of two drugmetabolizing enzymes CYP2D6 and CYYP2C19 in Koreans. Population studies were conducted in healthy volunteers to obtain basic information on these two enzymes. LÄS MER
