21. Evaluation of Errors and Limitations in Ultrasound Imaging Systems
Sammanfattning : There are binding regulations requiring safety and efficacy aspects of medical devices. The requirements ask for documentation that the devices are safe and effective for their intended use, i.e. if a device has a measuring function it must be correct. LÄS MER
22. Spirodynamics. New methods for continuous monitoring of respiratory mechanics in ventilator-treated patients
Sammanfattning : Introduction: Ventilator treatment is often life-saving but has the inherent risk of causing damage to lung tissues. Overdistension and repetitive collapsing/opening of alveoli should be avoided. Monitoring of respiratory mechanics has a central role in accomplishing this. LÄS MER
23. Fat-Referenced MRI : Quantitative MRI for Tissue Characterization and Volume Measurement
Sammanfattning : The amount and distribution of adipose and lean tissues has been shown to be predictive of mortality and morbidity in metabolic disease. Traditionally these risks are assessed by anthropometric measurements based on weight, length, girths or the body mass index (BMI). LÄS MER
24. Ground Monitoring using Resistivity Measurements in Glaciated Terrains
Sammanfattning : The most common method of monitoring and mapping groundwatercontaminants is to extract and analyse a number of groundwatersamples from wells in the investigation area. However, thereare a number of limitations with this type of point-wiseinvestigation, as it is hard to acquire an adequate picture ofa heterogeneous and anisotropic subsurface using a fewpoints. 25. Rapid measurements of the moisture content in biofuel
Sammanfattning : An increasing number of power plants in Scandinavia are beginning to use biofuel instead of coal or oil. The material in the new fuel is a mixture of woodchips, mostly Pine, Spruce and Salix, bark, GROT (tops and branches from felling waste) and sawdust from sawmills. It is heterogeneous, having a moisture content varying from 15% up to 65%. LÄS MER
