1. Experimental Vitreous Substitution
Sammanfattning : Blindness and visual disability are common following vitreoretinal pathologies such as open globe injury, proliferative diabetic retinopathy, and rhegmatogenous retinal detachment (RRD). These conditions often necessitate surgical intervention using vitrectomy with a tamponading vitreous substitute. LÄS MER
2. Experimental vitreoretinal surgery in the rabbit eye - electrophysiology and morphology
Sammanfattning : The field of vitreoretinal surgery has expanded greatly over the last decades. A continuous refinement of surgical methods and instruments has increased the number of treatable retinal disorders. Vitrectomy, retinectomy and laser treatment are all part of the modern surgical arsenal. LÄS MER
3. Experimental Neuroretinal Transplantation
Sammanfattning : Embryonic full-thickness rabbit neuroretinal sheets were transplanted to the subretinal space of adult hosts. This was accomplished by using a new transplantation technique involving vitrectomy and retinotomy. The grafts were followed from 10 to 306 days after surgery, and were then examined by different histological techniques. LÄS MER
4. Retinal Vein Occlusion A clinical study of electrophysiology, certain prognostic factors and treatment
Sammanfattning : The influence of the factor V Leiden mutation on the development of neovascular complications in central retinal vein occlusion was studied. The presence of the mutation was found to enhance the risk of developing neovascular complications almost threefold compared to in patients without the mutation. LÄS MER
5. Prevention of complications in pediatric cataract surgery
Sammanfattning : This thesis was performed to find ways to lessen the complications to pediatric cataract surgery, which is an increasingly safe procedure, also in infants. However, there are some complications to the surgery, which threatens the visual development. The most common complication is aftercataract. LÄS MER
