  1. 26. Late effects on hearing and balance after treatment for childhood cancer

    Författare :Einar-Jon Einarsson; Lund näs- och halssjukdomar Öron-; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Childhood cancer; Chemotherapy; Late effects; Hearing; Word Recogniton; Postural Control; Oculomotor Control; Subjective horizontal and vertical; Visual dependence; Self-reported disability and handicap.;

    Sammanfattning : During the last several decades, improvements in diagnostic skills and in the treatment of children with cancer have substantially increased the number of long term survivors of childhood cancer. Treatment of children with cytostatic drugs is known to create a range of late adverse effects. LÄS MER

  2. 27. Sound for Multisensory Motion Simulators

    Författare :Alexander Väljamäe; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; auditory scene synthesis; spatial audio; presence; virtual reality; cognitive acoustics; illusory self-motion; vection ; multisensory optimization;

    Sammanfattning : Interaction in a virtual reality environment often implies situations of illusory self-motion, like, for example, in flight or driving scenarios. Striving for pictorial realism, currently available motion simulators often exhibit relatively poor sound design. LÄS MER

  3. 28. Being on the trail of ageing : Functional visual ability and risk of falling in an increasingly ageing population

    Författare :Jeanette Källstrand Eriksson; Cathrine Hildingh; Boel Bengtsson; Hans Thulesius; Nina Buer; Heather Waterman; Högskolan i Halmstad; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; elderly; experience; falls; independently living; perceived vision; performance-based vision; visual impairment; Vårdvetenskap;

    Sammanfattning : The elderly population is estimated to increase worldwide. One of the major health determinants identified in this population are injuries where one of the most prevalent causes are falls. LÄS MER

  4. 29. Usher syndrome. Prevalence and phenotype - genotype correlations

    Författare :Mehdi Sadeghi; Göteborgs universitet; []
    Nyckelord :deafblindness; Usher syndrome; retinitis pigmentosa; prevalence; Usher type I; Usher type II; Usher type III; vestibular deficiency; hereditary hearing loss;

    Sammanfattning : Aims: the main purpose of this thesis was to estimate the prevalence of Usher syndrome type I, II and III in Sweden (study I) and to determine the clinical differences between Usher syndrome subtypes (studies II-IV). The hypothesis to be tested was that different genes for Usher syndrome will produce different phenotypes even when they belong to the same clinical type (studies II and III). LÄS MER

  5. 30. Posterior ocular malformations in children : teratological aspects

    Författare :Kristina Teär Fahnehjelm; Karolinska Institutet; Karolinska Institutet; []
    Nyckelord :Teratology; ocular malformations; visual impairment; anti-epileptic drugs; congenital infection; optic nerve hypoplasia; coloboma; magnetic resonance imaging; neonatal cholestasis; dried blood spots;

    Sammanfattning : Posterior ocular malformations are common causes of visual impairment in Swedish children. The most frequent diagnoses within this group are optic nerve hypoplasia and optic nerve/chorioretinal coloboma. Genetic factors, teratogens like medical/addictive drugs or congenital infections and unknown factors may cause these malformations. LÄS MER
