  1. 6. Visual perception in infancy and its links to later autism

    Författare :Irzam Hardiansyah; Karolinska Institutet; Karolinska Institutet; []
    Nyckelord :;

    Sammanfattning : Alterations in primary sensory areas of the brain have been suggested to be at the roots of the well-documented visual perceptual differences in autism. However, despite the possible key role these sensory processing alterations may play in the early development of autism, few studies have tried to clarify the links. LÄS MER

  2. 7. The Serotonin Transporter and the Vesicular Monoamine Transporters During Development

    Författare :Stefan R Hansson; Lunds universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; whiskers; lateral geniculate; infraorbital nerve; neural crest; merkel; somatosensory cortex; Key wordscitalopram; thalamus; visual cortex; Physiology; Fysiologi;

    Sammanfattning : In the present study, the mRNA encoding the serotonin transporter (5-HTT) and two isoforms of the vesicular monoamine transporters (VMAT1 and VMAT2) have been mapped in the rat throughout gestation and early postnatal development using in situ hybridization, RT PCR and immunohistochemistry. 5-HTT mRNA was found in serotonergic neurons and VMAT2 mRNA in all monoaminergic neurons from early gestation. 3. 8. Chemical circuitry in the visual system of the fruitfly, Drosophila melanogaster

    Författare :Agata Kolodziejczyk; Dick Nässel; Axel Borst; Stockholms universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Optic lobe; lamina; neurotransmitters; neuropeptides; tangential neurons; Animal physiology; Zoofysiologi; funktionell zoomorfologi; Functional Zoomorphology;

    Sammanfattning : Signal processing in the visual system is mediated by classic neurotransmission and neuropeptidergic modulatory pathways. In Dipteran insects, especially in the fruitfly Drosophila melanogaster, the morphology of the visual system is very well described. LÄS MER

  4. 9. Evaluation of the visual pathway with ERG, mfERG and mfVEP in inherited eye disorders

    Författare :Lotta Gränse; Lund Oftalmologi; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; multifocal ERG; Full-field ERG; multifocal VEP; Bothnia Dystrophy; Retinitis pigmentosa; Dominant optic atrophy; Leber`s hereditary optic neuropathy; Oftalmologi; Ophtalmology;

    Sammanfattning : This thesis will describe the clinical phenotypes, with emphasis on electrophysiology, in patients with different hereditary eye diseases and to further evaluate and modify the mfVEP technique for clinical use. Bothnia Dystrophy is a tapetoretinal disorder with a mutation in the RLBP1 gene. LÄS MER

  5. 10. Neural mechanisms for the visual control of spatial orientation and locomotion : electrophysiological and behavioural studies of the supraspinal control of posture and steering in the lamprey central nervous system, with reference to visuo-motor mechanisms

    Författare :Fredrik Ullén; Karolinska Institutet; Karolinska Institutet; []
    Nyckelord :;

    Sammanfattning : Neural mechanisms for the supraspinal control of posture and steering, in particular visuo-motor control and visuo-vestibular interaction in postural control, were investigated, using the lamprey as a model system. Behavioural experiments on intact and chronically lesioned animals, intra- and extracellular recordings in vitro and retrograde staining of neurons with horseradish peroxidase were utilized. LÄS MER
