1. Visual and tactile neglect
Sammanfattning : Neglect patients typically fail to report, respond, or orient to information presented in locations further away from the side of the brain lesion. Neglect is most often reported after acute stroke, and is more severe and more frequent after right hemisphere damage. LÄS MER
2. The importance of lateralized and nonlateralized sub-symptoms of visuospatial neglect as predictors of functional outcome after stroke
Sammanfattning : DEGREE OF LICENTIATE IN PSYCHOLOGY Abstract Viken, J. I. (2011). The importance of lateralized and nonlateralized sub-symptoms of visuospatial neglect as predictors of functional dependency after stroke. LÄS MER
3. Visuospatial inattention and processing speed : Predictors of long-term outcome and patterns of change after ischemic stroke
Sammanfattning : Impairments of visuospatial attention, language, and processing speed (PS) are common early after stroke and have been associated with unfavorable short-term functional outcomes but little is known about this relationship in the long-term. This thesis investigates 1) the potential importance of visuospatial inattention (VSI) and language impairments (LI) as predictors of functional outcomes 7 years after an ischemic stroke (studies I-II) and 2) presence of lateralized inattention 7 years after stroke and potential predictors of this phenomenon (study III). 4. Virtual Reality for Enriched Rehabilitation of Stroke Patients with Spatial Neglect : Diagnostics and the Rehabilitation Effect on Spatial Attention and Neuronal Activity
Sammanfattning : Background: Approximately a third of all stroke patients develop spatial neglect, a debilitating symptom associated with poor outcome. Spatial neglect is clinically defined as a deficit in processing and responding to stimuli presented on the contralesional side of the body, or the space surrounding that side of the body. LÄS MER
5. Late Neuropsychiatric Consequences of Stroke in the Elderly
Sammanfattning : Cognitive impairments and depression have considerable impacts on rehabilitation, quality of life and mortality after stroke. The understanding of cognitive and mood impairments in old and, in particular, very old stroke patients is not sufficient. LÄS MER
