1. Embedded high-resolution stereo-vision of high frame-rate and low latency through FPGA-acceleration
Sammanfattning : Autonomous agents rely on information from the surrounding environment to act upon. In the array of sensors available, the image sensor is perhaps the most versatile, allowing for detection of colour, size, shape, and depth. For the latter, in a dynamic environment, assuming no a priori knowledge, stereo vision is a commonly adopted technique. LÄS MER
2. Visual Attention in Active Vision Systems : Attending, Classifying and Manipulating Objects
Sammanfattning : This thesis has presented a computational model for the combination of bottom-up and top-down attentional mechanisms. Furthermore, the use for this model has been demonstrated in a variety of applications of machine and robotic vision. LÄS MER
3. Peripheral Vision : Adaptive Optics and Psychophysics
Sammanfattning : This thesis is about our peripheral vision. Peripheral vision is poor compared to central vision, due to both neural and optical factors. The optical factors include astigmatism, defocus and higher order aberrations consisting mainly of coma. Neurally, the density of ganglion cells decreases towards the periphery, which limits the sampling density. LÄS MER
4. Camera Modelling and Calibration for Machine Vision Applications
Sammanfattning : This thesis describes camera based methods for determining positions and orientations of objects in 3D-space. These methods are useful in several applications where camera images are used for acquiring information about the surroundings, and the targeted application here is guiding robots using a camera mounted on the robot hand. 5. Spatial vision in diverse invertebrates
Sammanfattning : Light-detection provides incomparabaly rapid information at a range of time scales and, consequently, directional photoreception is found in almost every major metazoan clade. Conversely, a much smaller cohort have evolved sophisticated high resolution vision, which facillitates complex tasks via the detection of fast or small objects,. LÄS MER
