21. A Seeing Place – Connecting Physical and Virtual Spaces
Sammanfattning : In the experience and design of spaces today, we meet both reality and virtuality. But how is the relation between real and virtual construed? How can we as researchers and designers contribute to resolving the physical-virtual divide regarding spaces? This thesis explores the relations between the physical and the virtual and investigates ways of connecting physical and virtual space, both in theory and practice. LÄS MER
22. Towards an integrated framework for modeling, control, and validation of production systems
Sammanfattning : To prepare a production system before installation includes a multitude of computer assisted tasks. Virtual preparation, including many simulation supported activities, has made great strides during the last decade. Industrial robots are routinely programmed offline in simulation environments. 24. Using Virtual Reality for Participatory Design and Brain Injury Rehabilitation
Sammanfattning : In this thesis, the usability of Virtual Reality (VR) has been investigated and developed within two applications: participatory design of workplaces and brain injury rehabilitation. In the first application, VR is used in combination with full scale modelling, drama and democratic meetings in an Envisionment Workshop. LÄS MER
25. Touching the Essence of Life : Haptic Virtual Proteins for Learning
Sammanfattning : This dissertation presents research in the development and use of a multi-modal visual and haptic virtual model in higher education. The model, named Chemical Force Feedback (CFF), represents molecular recognition through the example of protein-ligand docking, and enables students to simultaneously see and feel representations of the protein and ligand molecules and their force interactions.
