6. Topics in Combinatorial Algebraic Geometry
Sammanfattning : This thesis consists of six papers in algebraic geometry –all of which have close connections to combinatorics. In Paper A we consider complete smooth toric embeddings X ↪ P^N such that for a fixed positive integer k the t-th osculating space at every point has maximal dimension if and only if t ≤ k. LÄS MER
7. Stacky Modifications and Operations in the Étale Cohomology of Number Fields
Sammanfattning : This thesis consists of 4 papers. In Paper A we define stacky building data for stacky covers in the spirit of Pardini and give an equivalence of (2,1)- categories between the category of stacky covers and the category of stacky building data. LÄS MER
8. Building Data for Stacky Covers and the Étale Cohomology Ring of an Arithmetic Curve : Du som saknar dator/datorvana kan kontakta [email protected] för information
Sammanfattning : This thesis consists of two papers with somewhat different flavours. In Paper I we compute the étale cohomology ring H^*(X,Z/nZ) for X the ring of integers of a number field K. As an application, we give a non-vanishing formula for an invariant defined by Minhyong Kim. LÄS MER
9. Enumerative combinatorics related to partition shapes
Sammanfattning : This thesis deals with enumerative combinatorics applied to three different objects related to partition shapes, namely tableaux, restricted words, and Bruhat intervals. The main scientific contributions are the following. LÄS MER
10. Limit theorems for generalizations of GUE random matrices
Sammanfattning : This thesis consists of two papers devoted to the asymptotics of random matrix ensembles and measure valued stochastic processes which can be considered as generalizations of the Gaussian unitary ensemble (GUE) of Hermitian matrices H=A+A†, where the entries of A are independent identically distributed (iid) centered complex Gaussian random variables. In the first paper, a system of interacting diffusing particles on the real line is studied; special cases include the eigenvalue dynamics of matrix-valued Ornstein-Uhlenbeck processes (Dyson's Brownian motion).
