16. Bisphosphonate treatment of children and adolescents with osteogenesis imperfecta : effects on clinical symptoms and bone turnover
Sammanfattning : Background: Osteogenesis imperfecta (OI) is a group of genetic diseases with a wide spectrum of severity, ranging from very mild bone fragility to lethal forms. Without treatment the more severe forms have multiple fractures leading to progressive bone deformities with extreme shortness, frequent skeletal pain and immobilisation. LÄS MER
17. The morselized and impacted bone graft. Animal experiments on proteins, impaction and load
Sammanfattning : This thesis focuses on the healing and remodeling of the morselized and impacted bone allograft, commonly used in revision of loosened hip prostheses with osteolysis. The influence on remodeling by the impaction procedure per se was analyzed, as well as the effects of endogenous bone graft proteins, and an exogenously applied growth factor (OP-1). LÄS MER

19. Predictors of bone fragility in older women. Associations in older women between risk medications and measurements of physical function, bone microstructure and fracture risk
Sammanfattning : Bone fragility with fractures constitutes a growing public health concern, resulting in suffering and major health care cost. This thesis project has been carried out by means of studies based on the SUPERB cohort of 75–80-year-old women from Gothenburg. LÄS MER
20. Genetic causes and underlying disease mechanisms in early-onset osteoporosis
