1. Advancing the life cycle energy optimisation methodology
Sammanfattning : The Life Cycle Energy Optimisation (LCEO) methodology aims at finding a design solution that uses a minimum amount of cumulative energy demand over the different phases of the vehicle's life cycle, while complying with a set of functional constraints. This effectively balances trade-offs, and therewith avoids sub-optimal shifting between the energy demand for the cradle-to-production of materials, operation of the vehicle, and end-of-life phases. 2. Perceived Quality of Cars. A Novel Framework and Evaluation Methodology
Sammanfattning : The supremacy of the automotive manufacturers today is no longer driven by them achieving a superior manufacturing quality but increasingly depends on the customer’s quality perception. Average car consumers see a car’s quality as a fancy mixture of design, aesthetics, their own previous experiences and performance characteristics of the vehicle, unlike a combination of mechanical parts, software pieces, advanced materials, cutting-edge manufacturing processes, with technical knowledge, skills and high production volumes – all ingredients involved in the modern car creation. 3. Design for Perception - A human-centric approach to the design of driving automation systems based on the driver’s perception
Sammanfattning : The automotive industry is rapidly developing driving automation systems (DAS) with the aim of supporting drivers by means of the automation of longitudinal and lateral vehicle control. As vehicle complexity increases and update-over-the-air features are enabling continuous development of vehicle software and functionality, the driver’s understanding of their responsibility and their vehicle’s capabilities and limitations is becoming significantly more important. 4. Expansive design for teachers : An activity theoretical approach to design and work integrated learning
Sammanfattning : This thesis explores how Participatory Design (PD) and Cultural Historical Activity Theory (CHAT) can be combined and used as a theoretical framework and methodology in a professional development activity for teachers. A shift in the way we view teachers, from implementors to designers who actively construct, invent, and develop the practice of schooling also calls for changes in teacher education and professional development activities. 5. Eliciting User Experience Information in Early Design Phases. The CARE Approach to In-Vehicle UX
Sammanfattning : Experience-rich input in early phases of a design process can offer valuable information and inspiration to designers. However, there are methodological challenges linked with efforts to understand future user experiences. LÄS MER
