6. Porcine myocardial ischemia-reperfusion studies on cardioprotection, ventricular arrhythmia and electrophysiology
Sammanfattning : Background: Coronary artery disease is the primary cause of death in adults in the industrialised world and ventricular fibrillation associated with myocardial ischemia is the main cause of sudden cardiac death. Restoration of blood flow and preservation of myocardial integrity throughout ischemia and reperfusion is essential to improve clinical outcome. LÄS MER
7. Acute coronary syndromes. The prognostic importance of hypertension, diabetes and vectorcardiographic markers
Sammanfattning : Research questions: 1 Is hypertension and diabetes associated with the future risk of death, and recurrent manifestations of cardiovascular disease in acute coronary syndromes (ACS)? 2 How does myocardial ischemia affect depolarization and repolarization of the heart during the early phase of an acute myocardial infarction? 3 What is the prognostic value of accepted vectorcardiographic markers in relation to future risk of sudden cardiac death after ACS? Methodology: Papers I, III and IV studied patients with ACS prospectively and consecutively included at the coronary care unit of Sahlgrenska University Hospital. Paper I deals with 2,329 patients who were followed for a median of 8 years. LÄS MER
8. On-line vectorcardiography in ischemic heart disease
Sammanfattning : The clinical usefulness of continuous on-line vector cardiography (VCG) was assessed in 435 patients, admitted to the coronary care unit. The ability of 24-hour VCG monitoring to differentiate patients with or without ischemic heart disease (IHD), to provide long-term prognostic information and to predict results from a predischarge exercise test in patients with unstable angina pectoris or acute myocardial infarction (MI) was evaluated. 9. Computerized vectorcardiography for on-line cardiac monitoring in non-cardiac surgery
Sammanfattning : Perioperative cardiac morbidity (PCM) remains high in risk groups such as peripheral vascular surgery. Preoperative assessment has not succeeded in identifying the individual patients most susceptible of PCM. Computerized vectorcardiography (VCG), a novel continuous on-line method for ischaemia monitoring was evaluated for perioperative use. LÄS MER
10. On-line vectorcardiography during coronary angioplasty and unstable coronary artery disease
Sammanfattning : This thesis evaluates the usefulness of continuous vectorcardiography (VCG) in patients undergoing elective coronary angioplasty and in patients with unstable coronary artery disease (CAD), for detection and quantitation of myocardial ischemia and for identification of patients at risk of coronary events. The aims were to investigate, whether continuous on-line VCG: 1. LÄS MER
