21. Time Domain Boundary Element Methods for Acoustic Scattering
Sammanfattning : In room acoustics, numerical computation of scattering phenomena is an important subject, since it is needed to accurately predict the influence of reflectors, the audience, balconies, etc, on the perceived acoustic quality of auditoria. The large physical volumes of auditoria and the wide frequency content of music and speech, together with the complicated geometries involved however, makes predictions in room acoustics a challenging task from a computational point of view. 22. Development of Automated Algorithms for Epicardial Adipose Tissue Analysis in Computed Tomography and their Application in Population Based Research
Sammanfattning : The epicardial adipose tissue (EAT), which surrounds the heart and is separated from other tissues only by the thin layers of the pericardium, has enjoyed intense research for the past decades. Increased inflammatory activity in the EAT in coronary artery disease has, together with associated volumetric expansion of the EAT and changes in its radiodensity supported theories that the EAT might play a role in the pathogenesis of coronary atherosclerosis or mirror its progression better than traditional risk factors. 23. Retrieval of Wind Velocity Vectors Over the Ocean Surface with Spaceborne Synthetic Aperture Radar
Sammanfattning : Wind over the ocean (normally defined at 10 meter height) is one of the main parameters affectingsea state, generating waves and driving currents. Wind field maps with large area coverageand high resolution therefore represent valuable information for a wide range of applications such asinformation for shipping, which carries 80% of the world’s trade, oil platforms and other maritime infrastructures, modeling, analysis and validation of weather models, improving performance of sensorsonboard maritime infrastructures, etc. LÄS MER
24. Electronic speckle photography applied to in-plane deformation and strain field measurements
Sammanfattning : Non-contacting measurements of deformation and strain fields are of great importance in experimental mechanics. This thesis describes the development and applications of a video-based, computerized system called electronic speckle photography that measures the in-plane deformation of a strained body. LÄS MER
25. Data Mining and Analysis for Characterizing Paper from On-line Multisensor Measurements
Sammanfattning : The objective of this thesis is to develop a multi-resolution tool for screening paper formation variations, aiming to detect abnormalities in various frequency regions ranging from millimeters to several meters. The abnormalities detected in different frequency regions give an indication for the paper maker about specific disturbances in the paper production process. LÄS MER
