  1. 1. Disinformative and Uncertain Data in Global Hydrology : Challenges for Modelling and Regionalisation

    Författare :Anna Kauffeldt; Sven Halldin; Allan Rodhe; Chong-Yu Xu; András Bárdossy; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Data uncertainty; Discharge; Disinformative data; Evaporation; Flow-duration curve; Global hydrology; Neural networks; Numerical weather prediction; Precipitation; Quality control; Regionalisation; Ungauged basins; Water balance; Avdunstning; avrinningsområden utan vattenföringsdata; dataosäkerhet; desinformativa data; global hydrologi; kvalitetskontroll; nederbörd; neurala nät; numerisk vädermodell; regionalisering; varaktighetskurva; vattenbalans; vattenföring; Hydrology; Hydrologi;

    Sammanfattning : Water is essential for human well-being and healthy ecosystems, but population growth and changes in climate and land-use are putting increased stress on water resources in many regions. To ensure water security, knowledge about the spatiotemporal distribution of these resources is of great importance. LÄS MER

  2. 2. Data preparation, hydrodynamic and contaminant transport shallow-water simulations of Lake Victoria

    Författare :Seema Paul; Vladimir Cvetkovic; Jesper Oppelstrup; Roger Thunvik; Felix Mtalo; KTH; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Lake bathymetry model; Steady-state analysis; Numerical model validation; Lake water balance; Correlation and seasonal variations; Solute transport; Vattendjupskarta; Validering av numerisk modell; Vattenbalans; Korrelationer och säsongs-variation; Transport av lösliga ämnen; Mark- och vattenteknik; Land and Water Resources Engineering;

    Sammanfattning : This study explores shallow lake numerical hydrodynamic processes that support model development and validation, extreme events and effects of water circulation in Lake Victoria. Lake Victoria is the second largest freshwater lake in the world, and the largest in East Africa. LÄS MER

  3. 3. Global-Scale Modelling of the Land-Surface Water Balance : Development and Analysis of WASMOD-M

    Författare :Elin Widén-Nilsson; Sven Halldin; Chong-yu Xu; Lars-Christer Lundin; Jens Christian Refsgaard; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :Hydrology; Global; Water balance; Runoff; Regionalisation; Model uncertainty; Multi-objective; Parameter; Evaluation criteria; Routing; Climate change; Hydrologi;

    Sammanfattning : Water is essential for all life on earth. Global population increase and climate change are projected to increase the water stress, which already today is very high in many areas of the world. The differences between the largest and smallest global runoff estimates exceed the highest continental runoff estimates. LÄS MER

  4. 4. Nitric oxide in central nervous structures associated with water balance and micturition

    Författare :Anders Nylén; Lunds universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Pharmacological sciences; spinal projections; True Blue; cystometry; circumventricular organs; paraventricular nucleus; supraoptic nucleus; NADPH diaphorase; immunohistochemistry; oxytocin; 8-arginine-vasopressin; hypothalamus; rat; micturition; nitric oxide; water balance; neuronal nitric oxide synthase; pharmacognosy; pharmacy; toxicology; Farmakologi; farmakognosi; farmaci; toxikologi;

    Sammanfattning : The role of nitric oxide (NO) in the central control of water balance and micturition has not yet been established. In the present thesis, where female rats were used, neuronal NO synthase (nNOS) distribution was studied in structures of the central nervous system known to be associated with the above mentioned control. 5. 5. Lake Hydrodynamics and Pollution Transport under Climate Change : The Case of Lake Victoria

    Författare :Seema Paul; Henrik Ernstson; Zahra Kalantari; Abhijit Mukherjee; KTH; []

    Sammanfattning : A very small part of the total earth’s water is freshwater (only 2.5 %). Unfortunately, due to climate change and pervasive manmade activities, surface freshwater quality in many places of the world has become degraded. LÄS MER
