6. Hormones and fluid balance during pregnancy, labor and post partum
Sammanfattning : The aim of this thesis was to determine any association between plasma oxytocin and vasopressin concentrations and renal water and sodium excretion during normal pregnancy. In addition to investigate changes in concentrations of estradiol, progesterone, oxytocin, cortisol, and glucose in the blood before and in the nearest hours after delivery and if treatment with oxytocin affected these concentrations and the fluid balance during the different stages of labour. 7. Experimental cardiopulmonary cerebral resuscitation : A study of cerebral perfusion with special reference to the postresuscitation disturbances
Sammanfattning : Ischemic neuronal injury continues to be a major delimiting factor in achieving successful clinical outcomesafter resuscitation from cardiac arrest. In this thesis, a pig model of cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) wasused to address the effects of different interventions on cerebral blood flow and oxygenation during CPR and theinitial postresuscitation period. 8. Haemodynamic management in liver surgery
Sammanfattning : Background: Liver resection surgery is a potentially curative treatment for liver tumours. The liver is a highly vascular organ, and substantial intra-operative blood loss is common. Increased blood loss negatively impacts both postoperative outcome and long-term survival. LÄS MER
9. Cardiac surgery and the kidney - studies on the effects of pharmacological interventions on renal perfusion, filtration and oxygenation
Sammanfattning : Acute kidney injury (AKI) commonly complicates cardiac surgery and is associated with high mortality. Renal ischemia is considered to be the major cause. There is a close association between glomerular filtration rate (GFR), tubular sodium reabsorption and renal oxygen consumption (RVO2) in humans. LÄS MER
10. Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation : Pharmacological Interventions for Augmentation of Cerebral Blood Flow
Sammanfattning : Cardiac arrest results in immediate interruption of blood flow. The primary goal of cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) is to re-establish blood flow and hence oxygen delivery to the vital organs. LÄS MER
