  1. 21. Risk and prognostic factors for malignant glioma

    Författare :Sara Sjöström; Beatrice S Melin; Ulrika Andersson; Monika Hegi; Umeå universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Glioma; Glioblastoma; Risk; Outcome; EGR; EGFR; VEGF; VEGFR; DNA repair; virus; Oncology; Onkologi; onkologi; Oncology;

    Sammanfattning : Background: Glioblastoma is the most common and aggressive type of glioma and associated with poor prognosis. Apart from ionizing radiation and some rare genetic disorders, few aetiological factors have been identified for primary brain tumours. LÄS MER

  2. 22. Elucidating the role of DNA damage and human cytomegalovirus in medulloblastoma and glioblastoma

    Författare :Jiri Bartek; Karolinska Institutet; Karolinska Institutet; []
    Nyckelord :;

    Sammanfattning : The most common primary malignant brain tumor in children is Medulloblastoma, while Glioblastoma is the most common in adults. Treatment for both include some combination of surgery, radiation therapy, and chemotherapy. LÄS MER

  3. 23. The Role of the SHB Adapter Protein in Cell Differentiation and Development

    Författare :Vitezslav Kriz; Michael Welsh; Urban Lendahl; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :Cell biology; SHB; transgene; ES cells; cavitation; knockout; mouse; vasculogenesis; hematopoiesis; endoderm; mesoderm; malformation; Cellbiologi;

    Sammanfattning : The present study was conducted in order to assess a role of the SH2 domain-containing adapter protein SHB in development and cell differentiation.Embryonic stem (ES) cells overexpressing SHB and SHB with an inactive SH2 domain (R522K-SHB) were obtained. LÄS MER

  4. 24. Mechanism of pathological angiogenesis in adipose tissue and tumor

    Författare :Yuan Xue; Karolinska Institutet; Karolinska Institutet; []
    Nyckelord :;

    Sammanfattning : Angiogenesis is critical for both malignant diseases, such as cancer, and non-malignant diseases, such as obesity and metabolic disorders. Majority of tissues and organs are highly vascularized. The malfunctions of tissue microenvironment are always accompanied with or dependent on the alterations of vasculature. LÄS MER

  5. 25. Investigating mechanisms of angiogenesis in health and disease using zebrafish models

    Författare :Zaheer Ali; Lasse D. Jensen; Neil Lagali; Massimo Santoro; Linköpings universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES;

    Sammanfattning : Angiogenesis, the growth of blood vessels from an existing vasculature, can occur by sprouting from preexisting vessels or by vessel splitting (intussusception). Pathological angiogenesis drives choroidal neovascularization (CNV) in age related macular degeneration (AMD) which is commonly restricted under the retinal pigment epithelium (RPE), called occult CNV, but may also involve vessels penetrating through the RPE into the sub-retinal space.
