  1. 1. CT Urography : Efforts to Reduce the Radiation Dose

    Författare :Pär Dahlman; Anders Magnusson; Anders Sundin; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Urinary tract malignancy; renal cell carcinoma; urography; x-ray computed tomography; radiation dosage; dose escalation; hematuria diagnosis; Diagnostic radiology; Diagnostisk radiologi; Radiologi; Radiology;

    Sammanfattning : Computed tomography urography (CTU) is today the imaging method used to investigate patients with suspected urinary tract malignancy, replacing the old imaging method intravenous pyelography (IVP) about a decade ago. The downside of this shift was that the effective radiation dose to the examined patient was eight times higher for CTU compared to IVP. LÄS MER

  2. 2. Bladder exstrophy : Clinical and experimental aspects

    Författare :Christina Clementson Kockum; Lund Pediatrik; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Pediatri; Bladder exstrophy. Children. Urinary diversion. Menthal health.; Pediatrics; Urology; nephrology; Urologi; nefrologi;

    Sammanfattning : Bladder exstrophy is a complex malformation seen in 1/30 000. 3. 3. Percutaneous Nephrostomies : Planning for an Optimal Access, Complications, Follow-up and Outcome

    Författare :Eva Radecka; Anders Magnusson; Marianne Brehmer; Torbjörn Andersson; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Radiology; Percutaneous nephrostomy; Percutaneious nephrolithotripsy; Complications; Puncture technique; CT guidance; Radiologisk forskning; Radiological research; Radiologisk forskning;

    Sammanfattning : Percutaneous nephrostomy (PCN) is a well-established intervention performed to divert urine from the collecting system in ureteric obstruction or as a prelude to interventional procedures such as stent placement or percutaneous nephrolithotripsy (PCNL). The aim of this thesis is to enhance planning for an optimal insertion of PCN, investigate complications, long-term management, follow-up and outcome in patients with PCN treatment and to increase accuracy in CT-guided punctures. 4. 4. The patient with bladder cancer. From symptoms, through treatment, with special reference to psychosocial consequences of radical cystectomy

    Författare :Åsa G E Månsson; Urologi; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; philosophical attitudes; psychosocial intervention; projective test; postoperative adjustment; Bladder cancer; cystectomy; quality of life; Urology; nephrology; Urologi; nefrologi;

    Sammanfattning : Factors determining patient`s and doctor`s delay in diagnosis of bladder cancer were type of initial symptoms, level of health service first consulted and number of steps in the referral system. No correlation was found between psychosocial factors and patient`s delay. LÄS MER

  5. 5. Challenges in the management of urothelial cancer : novel treatment, evaluation of biomarkers, and imaging techniques

    Författare :Carl-Henrik Shah; Karolinska Institutet; Karolinska Institutet; []
    Nyckelord :;

    Sammanfattning : Urothelial cancer (UC) is the most common malignancy found in the urinary tract. The global annual incidence is approximately 430 000 new cases (Sweden: 3 200 new cases). Approximately one in four new UC patients being diagnosed has muscle-invasive disease. LÄS MER
