1. Orientational dynamics of single molecules applied to protein-DNA target search
Sammanfattning : Cells in all life forms regulate their genes with the help of transcription factors (TFs). These proteins turn genes on or off by binding regulatory motifs present in the DNA. Before this binding can occur, a TF needs to search and find the specific binding site in the genome of the cell. LÄS MER
2. Skolmedling i teori och praktik
Sammanfattning : This thesis aims to answer the questions; what and were does peer mediation fit into the theoretical and practical frameworks of mediation? How does peer mediation fit into the retributive legal system as it stands today? What problems can arise with the use of peer mediation, its organizations and with the use of adolescent peer mediators, in a legal perspective? When it comes to the question of where peer mediation has its theoretical framework the hypothesis in this thesis are that peer mediation, with respect to the practical framework, is a hybrid of the settlement driven mediation and the transformative mediation. The theoretical framework comes from the philosophy of restorative justice (RJ), primarily the victim-offender mediation in the sense that if peer mediation per se is not enough it has to bee a whole school approach for it to work. 3. The influence of trophic polymorphisms on habitat coupling in aquatic food webs
Sammanfattning : Trophic cascades, together with other indirect interactions are important aspects in shaping the composition and abundance of species in the food web. Theoretically, movement of energy between systems, and coupling between habitats by mobile predators have been suggested as being important for food web stability and evenness. LÄS MER

5. The role of reactive oxygen species in traumatic brain injury : Experimental studies in the rat
Sammanfattning : Traumatic brain injury (TBI) is a major cause of mortality and disability. As common sequelae in survivors of TBI are disabling functional, emotional and cognitive disturbances, improved treatment of TBI patients is urgently needed. At present, no neuroprotective pharmacological treatment exists. LÄS MER
