  1. 1. A study of the stereochemistry and electronic transitions of cyclic and acyclic thioamides by crystallography, spectroscopy and computational methods

    Författare :Knut Rang; Centrum för analys och syntes; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; UV and CD spectroscopy; rotational barriers; DNMR; X-ray; N -bis[ S -1-phenylethyl]-thiourea; N; attractive steric effect; chiral; phenyl or H- rhodanines; 3- alkyl or aralkyl -5- methyl; Conformations; electronic transitions; molecular mechanics; enantiom; Organic chemistry; Organisk kemi;

    Sammanfattning : Analysis of conformations and electron transitions of 3-(alkyl or aralkyl)-5-(methyl or phenyl)rhodanines with analogues and N,N'-bis[(S)-1-phenylethyl]-thiourea have been performed by X-ray crystallography, 1H NMR, molecular mechanics, ultraviolet spectroscopy and for the chiral rhodanines, enantiomer chromatography and circular dichroism spectroscopy. The magnitude of rotational barriers has been determined. LÄS MER

  2. 2. ALD Buffer Layer Growth and Interface Formation on Cu(In,Ga)Se2 Solar Cell Absorbers

    Författare :Jan Sterner; Lars Stolt; Roland Scheer; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Electronics; thin film; Cu In; Ga Se2; CIGS; chalcopyrite; ALD; sulfurization; buffer layer; XPS; UPS; electron spectroscopy; band alignment; atomic layer deposition; Elektronik; Electronics; Elektronik;

    Sammanfattning : Cu(In,Ga)Se2 (CIGS) thin film solar cells contain a thin layer of CdS. To avoid toxic heavy-metal-containing waste in the module production the development of a cadmium-free buffer layer is desirable. This thesis considers alternative Cd-free buffer materials deposited by Atomic Layer Deposition (ALD). LÄS MER

  3. 3. Red Glass Coloration : a Colorimetric and Structural Study

    Författare :Torun Bring; Lars Kloo; Alicia Duran; KTH; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Organic chemistry; Organisk kemi;

    Sammanfattning : Syftet med detta arbete har varit att försöka hitta alternativ till det kadmiumbase¬rade röda pigment som används idag. Detta har gjorts genom att delvis under¬söka kombinationer av grundämnen som i litteraturen finns omnämnda som röda glaspigment, delvis genom att försöka förbättra och underlätta produktionen av redan kända, men problematiska pigment. 4. 4. Interactions of Anticancer Active Platinum(II) Complexes with DNA

    Författare :Johan Kjellström; Bröstcancer-genetik; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Inorganic chemistry; polyelectrolyte; medium effects; salt dependence; DSC; CD; HPLC; oligonucleotide; hairpin; DNA; anticancer active platinum II compounds; kinetics; mechanism; Oorganisk kemi; Cytology; oncology; cancerology; Cytologi; onkologi; cancer;

    Sammanfattning : The kinetics and mechanism for interactions of the anticancer active platinum(II) complexes cis-[PtCl2(NH3)2)], cis-[PtCl2(NH3)(c-C6H11NH2)], and trans-[PtCl2-(NH3)(quinoline)] with DNA have been studied using a combination of HPLC, circular dichroism (CD), UV/vis spectroscopy, and differential scanning calorimetry (DSC). Reactions of the monoaqua forms (charge = +1) of these complexes with single-stranded DNA oligonucleotides, typically between 13-17 bases long, were found to depend on i) the composition of the reaction medium, ii) the exact nature and location of the platination target, and iii) on the DNA structure. 5. 5. Nucleic Acids as Drug Targets -Interactions of Platinum Complexes, Polyamines, and siRNA with DNA and RNA Models

    Författare :Margareta Hägerlöf; Biokemi och Strukturbiologi; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Kinetics; Kemi; Chemistry; AU-rich region; siRNA; Circular Dichroism; Polyamine; Modified Nucleoside; HPLC; Thermodynamic Stability; cisplatin; Hairpin; DNA and RNA conformation; RNA; DNA; Anticancer Drug; Platinum Complexes;

    Sammanfattning : Drugs targeting nucleic acids were studied in DNA and RNA model systems. The effects were investigated with respect to structural and thermodynamic influence, kinetics, and biological function. The drugs employed in this thesis were anticancer active platinum(II) complexes, polyamine derivatives, and siRNA. LÄS MER
