6. Techniques and Application of Electron Spectroscopy Based on Novel X-ray Sources
Sammanfattning : The curiosity of researchers to find novel characteristics and properties of matter constantly pushes for the development of instrumentation based on X-radiation. I present in this thesis techniques for electron spectroscopy based on developments of X-ray sources both in time structure and energy. LÄS MER
7. Growth and Characterization of ZnO Nanocrystals
Sammanfattning : The understanding of surfaces of materials is of crucial importance to all of us. Considering nanocrystals (NCs), that have a large surface to bulk ratio, the surfaces become even more important. Therefore, it is important to understand the fundamental surface properties in order to use NCs efficiently in applications. LÄS MER
8. Near-ambient pressure velocity map imaging
Sammanfattning : Catalytic reactions on solid surfaces have been studied under Ultra-high vacuum (UHV) conditions for decades. These studies provide crucial information for catalytic reactions, such as surface structures, adsorption sites, and reaction mechanisms. LÄS MER
9. Thermal and Photon Stimulated Reactions on Metal Particles
Sammanfattning : The interaction between molecules and solid surfaces influence our daily lives in many ways. One important example is heterogeneous catalysis where surface reactions, for example, are used for production of chemicals and exhaust after-treatment. LÄS MER
10. Compound Formation in Model Catalysts
Sammanfattning : In this thesis we have performed a systematic atomic scale characterization of model catalysts under pressures ranging from UHV to atmospheric ambient. By using a unique approach, linking UHV and high pressures studies by combining traditional electron based techniques with novel high pressure in situ probes and ab initio calculations, the surface structure of the different model catalysts could be determined under a wide range of conditions, spanning more than ten orders of magnitude in pressure.
