  1. 1. Pharmaceutical Protection of Beta-Cells in Diabetes : Using Tyrosine Kinase Inhibition and NOX4 Inhibitors

    Författare :Andris Elksnis; Per-Ola Carlsson; Nils Welsh; Sergiu-Bogdan Catrina; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Diabetes mellitus; Tyrosine kinase inhibitors; Imatinib; AMPK; Oxidative stress; NADPH-oxidase; NOX; NOX4; Medical Cell Biology; Medicinsk cellbiologi;

    Sammanfattning : Diabetes mellitus is a complex and heterogenous disease, with loss of beta-cell function and mass being a characteristic of not only type 1 diabetes (T1D), but also type 2 diabetes (T2D). In T1D, inappropriate inflammatory signaling is thought to participate in the autoimmune suppression and destruction of beta-cells. LÄS MER

  2. 2. Aspects on long-term treatment with tyrosine kinase inhibitors in Chronic myeloid leukemia

    Författare :Sofia Jönsson; Göteborgs universitet; []
    Nyckelord :Chronic myeloid leukemia; tyrosine kinase inhibitor; imatinib; molecular response; adherence; mesechymal stem cells; osteoblast differentiation; dasatinib;

    Sammanfattning : Chronic myeloid leukemia (CML) is caused by the tyrosine kinase activity of the oncoprotein BCR-ABL. The introduction of tyrosine kinase inhibitors (TKIs) targeting BCR-ABL has profoundly changed the prognosis of CML. Currently, there are three TKIs approved for treatment of CML, imatinib, nilotinib and dasatinib. LÄS MER

  3. 3. Using Light to Regulate the Activity of RET Kinase: Design, synthesis and evaluation of photoswitchable DFG-out RET kinase inhibitors

    Författare :Yongjin Xu; Göteborgs universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; RET kinase; kinase inhibitor; DFG-out; photoparmacology; azoheteroarene; Buchwald-Hartwig coupling; quinoline; 7-azaindole;

    Sammanfattning : Protein kinases are essential for signal transduction and regulate most cellular processes, such as metabolism, membrane transport, motility, and cell cycle. Although they play a critical role in cells and have a strong association with diseases, details of their physiologic and pathologic mechanisms remain at least partially unclear, especially the spatiotemporal dynamics of the signalling. 4. 4. The FLT3 Tyrosine Kinase in Leukemia : Deciphering the Downstream Signaling Events and Drug-Escape Mechanisms

    Författare :Amanda Nordigården; Jan-Ingvar Jönsson; Mickael Sigvardsson; Alexander Vener; Bengt Hallberg; Linköpings universitet; []
    Nyckelord :;

    Sammanfattning : Acute myeloid leukemia (AML) is a severe disease, which originates in blood-forming cells. Although major advances in understanding the biology of AML, the majority of patients eventually succumb to the disease. LÄS MER

  5. 5. Exploiting Drosophila as a model system for studying anaplastic lymphoma kinase in vivo

    Författare :Therese Eriksson; Ruth Palmer; Stefan Thor; Umeå universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Anaplastic lymphoma kinase; Receptor tyrosine kinase; Jeb; neuroblastoma; actin polymerization; Wasp; Scar; Vrp1; Arp2 3; Molecular biology; Molekylärbiologi; molekylärbiologi; Molecular Biology;

    Sammanfattning : Anaplastic Lymphoma Kinase (ALK) is a Receptor Tyrosine Kinase (RTK) and an oncogene associated with several human diseases, but its normal function in humans and other vertebrates is unclear. Drosophila melanogaster has an ALK homolog, demonstrating that the RTK has been conserved throughout evolution. LÄS MER
