  2. 7. Acoustic Forces in Cytometry and Biomedical Applications: Multidimensional Acoustophoresis

    Författare :Carl Grenvall; Avdelningen för Biomedicinsk teknik; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Acoustophoresis; Microfluidics; Ultrasound; Multinode; Cell Sorting; Particle Positioning; Cytometry; Lab-on-a-Chip; µTAS; Binary Separation; Acoustic Barriers; Acoustic Particle Manipulation; Acoustic Standing Waves; Blood Separation; Milk Analysis;

    Sammanfattning : Over the last decades the ongoing work in the fields of Lab-on-a-Chip and Micro-Total-Analysis-Systems has led to the discovery of new or improved ways to handle and analyse small volumes of biofluids and complex biosuspensions. The benefits of working on the microscale include: miniaturization of the analysis systems with less need for large sample volumes; temporal and spatial control of suspended particle/cell positions; low volume sheath flow lamination or mixing; novel separation techniques by using forces inherent to the microscale domain; precise regulation of sample temperatures and rapid analysis with less volumes needed to be processed. 3. 8. Three-dimensional ultrasound studies of normal and abnormal ovaries

    Författare :Ligita Jokubkiene; gynekologisk och prenatal ultraljudsdiagnostik Obstetrisk; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; ovary; ovarian follicle; ovarian neoplasms; ultrasonography; three-dimensional imaging; Doppler ultrasound imaging; vascular morphology;

    Sammanfattning : The aims of this work were: 1) to estimate the number of follicles, ovarian volume and power Doppler vascular indices and their changes with age using three-dimensional (3D) transvaginal grey-scale and power Doppler ultrasound in asymptomatic women of fertile age either with natural menstrual cycles or using combined oral contraceptives, and 2) to determine whether tumour vascularity, assessed by 3D power Doppler ultrasound, can help discriminate between benign and malignant ovarian tumours. A group of 303 gynaecologically asymptomatic women, aged 20–39 years with normal menstrual cycles (NMC) and another group of 213 women aged 20–39 years using combined oral contraceptives (COC) were examined using two-dimensional (2D) and 3D transvaginal ultrasound once between cycle day 4 and 8. 4. 9. The use of ultrasound in the prediction of endometrial cancer in women with postmenopausal bleeding

    Författare :Gina Opolskiene; gynekologisk och prenatal ultraljudsdiagnostik Obstetrisk; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; endometrial neoplasms; ultrasonography; postmenopause; Doppler ultrasound;

    Sammanfattning : The aim of the work presented in this thesis was to identify the ultrasound methods and ultrasound features that are most useful for the prediction of endometrial cancer in patients with postmenopausal bleeding and sonographic endometrial thickness 4.5 mm or more. LÄS MER

  5. 10. Spatio-temporal filtering of ultrasound image sequences

    Författare :Nina Eriksson-Bylund; Linköpings universitet; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY;

    Sammanfattning : A number of diseases result in reduced perfusion of the vital organs of the body. Measures of the blood flow in the small vessels (the perfusion) of these organs would contribute significantly to a clinical diagnosis. Myocardial contrast echocardiography is a rapidly developing technique for non-invasive ultrasound imaging of perfusion. LÄS MER
