    Sammanfattning : This study investigates how representations of genes and genetics have given rise to new kinds of cultural imageries created and reflected in popular science media. The concept of popular/science is used here in order to circumvent the traditional diffusion model of science communication, and to focus instead on how popular science media taps into scientific discourse just as scientific representations draw on popular imagery.     Sammanfattning : This thesis aims to show how gender is done in the Swedish Armed Forces, against the backdrop of its transition into an international defence organization and the international resolutions that call for gender mainstreaming in peacekeeping operations.     Sammanfattning : Den här avhandlingen, som handlar om de populärkulturella bilderna av den sjuke mannen, bygger på mediala formuleringar kring manlig ohälsa och sjukdom, primärt under ett svenskt 1990-tal. Syftet med avhandlingen är att analysera populärkulturella förestiillningar om manlig sjukdom och maskulinitet, det vill säga att fånga relationen mellan manlighet och sjukdom på en medierad arena för att se vilken betydelse ohälsa tillskrivs och vilken funktion den fyller i gestaltningen av maskulinitet.
