  1. 16. Interstitial laser thermotherapy (ILT) of an adenocarcinoma implanted into rat liver - methodology and effects

    Författare :Kjell Ivarsson; Lund Kirurgi; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Surgery; orthopaedics; traumatology; Kirurgi; ortopedi; traumatologi; heat shock protein HSP ; tumour immunology; resection; liver; adenocarcinoma; local treatment; monitoring; Interstitial laser thermotherapy; feedback control;

    Sammanfattning : Local treatment of a tumour is of interest from a number of perspectives. It is focused on reducing the tumour volume with minimal trauma, inducing tumour immunity and is a potential component of a combination therapy against tumours. LÄS MER

  2. 17. On CD4+ T Lymphocytes in Solid Tumours

    Författare :Per Marits; Ola Winqvist; Magnus Thörn; Alex Karlsson-Parra; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :Molecular medicine; Tumour immunology; T lymphocytes; sentinel node detection; colon cancer; urinary bladder cancer; adoptive immunotherapy; Molekylärmedicin;

    Sammanfattning : This thesis deals with recognition and elimination of tumours by T lymphocytes and their use in adoptive immunotherapy.The first tumour-draining lymph node; the sentinel node, is identified by peritumoural injection of a tracer. This is the hypothesised location for the activation of tumour-reactive lymphocytes. LÄS MER

  3. 18. Isolated regional perfusion for metastases of malignant melanoma - Clinical and experimental studies

    Författare :Roger Olofsson; Göteborgs universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Malignant melanoma; Uveal melanoma; Isolated limb perfusion; Isolated hepatic perfusion; Immunology; Exosomes;

    Sammanfattning : Background: Isolated regional perfusion is a treatment option mainly for localized metastatic disease. The principle idea is to surgically isolate a region of the body and connect the circulation to a heart-lung machine. A high concentration of a chemotherapeutic agent is then delivered to the tumour, while systemic toxicity is avoided. LÄS MER

  4. 19. Sentinel Node Biopsy in Breast Cancer : Clinical and Immunological Aspects

    Författare :Jana de Boniface; Leif Bergkvist; Annika Håkansson; Omgo Nieweg; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :Surgery; breast cancer; tumour immunology; sentinel node biopsy; CD3-zeta; CD28; Kirurgi;

    Sammanfattning : The most important prognostic factor in breast cancer is the axillary lymph node status. The sentinel node biopsy (SNB) is reported to stage the axilla with an accuracy > 95 % in early breast cancer. Tumour-related perturbation of T-cell function has been observed in patients with malignancies, including breast cancer. LÄS MER

  5. 20. Antigen presenting cells in autoimmune diabetes: phenotype, function and modulation by Linomide

    Författare :Eva Dahlén; Lunds universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; secreting systems; Endocrinology; Linomide; costimulation; TNF-a; dendritic cells; Diabetes; macrophages; diabetology; Endokrinologi; sekretion; diabetologi; Immunology; serology; transplantation; Immunologi; serologi;

    Sammanfattning : The aim of this thesis was to better understand the role of antigen presenting cells (APC) in the development of diabetes in the nonobese diabetic (NOD) mouse. We have shown that DC and Mphi that infiltrate the islets of Langerhans produce tumour necrosis factor-a (TNF-a), a cytokine known to contribute to the pathogenesis in the early stages of diabetes development.
