  1. 1. Cellular, Molecular and Functional Characterization of the Tumor Suppressor Candidate MYO1C

    Författare :Kittichate Visuttijai; Afrouz Behboudi; Katarina Ejeskär; Anders Oldfors; Volker Haucke; Högskolan i Skövde; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; MYO1C; myosin IC; tumor suppressor gene; cancer; tumor; PI3K AKT signaling; Medical sciences; Medicin; MYO1C; myosin IC; tumor suppressor gene; cancer; tumor; PI3K AKT signaling;

    Sammanfattning : Tumor suppressor genes play a role as a growth regulator and a gatekeeper of a cell. Their inactivation is often detected in malignant tumors. Identification of novel tumor suppressor gene candidates may help to further understand tumorigenesis and aid in the discovery of a new treatment leading toward cure of cancer. LÄS MER

  2. 2. From 1p3 to PI3K - Studies of neuroblastoma

    Författare :Susanne Fransson; Göteborgs universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; cancer; neuroblastoma; PI3K; PIK3CD; 1p36; alternative splicing; tumor; neural crest; mucosa; premalignant; tumor suppressor gene; oncogene; gene expression; epigenetics; splicing; signaling; akt; western blot; TaqMan; PIK3R1; p110H; p37H; p85; RAS;

    Sammanfattning : Neuroblastoma (NB) is a tumor of the sympathetic nervous system and is the most common extra-cranial tumor of childhood, accounting for 7% of all pediatric malignancies. Despite recent advances in therapeutics, outcome is still fatal for patients with aggressive NB and side-effects of treatment are severe. LÄS MER

  3. 3. Gene Therapy with Interferon Alpha and the Angiogenic Inhibitor, Vasostatin, in Neuroendocrine Tumors of the Digestive System

    Författare :Minghui Liu; Kjell Oberg; Yinghua Zhou; Bertram Wiedenmann; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :Internal medicine; neuroendocrine tumor; interferon-α; vasostatin; vinculin; tumor suppressor gene; nude mice; gene therapy; Invärtesmedicin;

    Sammanfattning : IFN-α has been applied in medical treatment of various neuroendocrine (NE) tumors, either alone or combination with somatostatin analogues. They can improve clinical symptoms in 50-70% of patients but a significant tumor reduction is only observed in 5-15% patients. Vasostatin (vaso) is believed to be an angiogenic inhibitor. LÄS MER

  4. 4. Novel Tumor Suppressor Gene Candidates in Experimental Endometrial Carcinoma - From Cytogenetic to Molecular Analysis

    Författare :Carola Hedberg; Göteborgs universitet; []
    Nyckelord :cancer; endometrial cancer; tumor suppressor gene; rat models; Skip; Myo1c;

    Sammanfattning : Endometrial carcinoma (EC) is the most common form of gynecological malignancy, ranking fourth in incidence among tumors diagnosed in women. As is the case with other complex diseases, detailed analyses of the underlying mechanisms of cancer are difficult, due mainly to the genetic heterogeneity of the human population and differences in the environment and lifestyle of individuals. 5. 5. Identification and characterization of candidate genes for neuroblastoma development

    Författare :Cecilia Krona; Göteborgs universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; cancer; tumor; child; embryonal; neural crest; neuroblastoma; chromosome 1; 1p36; mutation; expression; tumor suppressor gene; UBE4B; KIF1B; PGD; CORT; DFFA; PEX14; ICAT; CASP9; ENO1; MBP1; APITD1; PHOX2B;

    Sammanfattning : Neuroblastoma (NB) is the most common tumor during infancy. It arises from undifferentiated cells in the sympathetic nervous system and is characterized by both clinical and genetic heterogeneity. One of the features of NBs with unfavorable outcome is loss on distal chromosome 1p. LÄS MER
