  1. 1. DEM Modelling of Unbound Granular Materials for Transport Infrastructures : On soil fabric and rockfill embankments

    Författare :Ricardo de Frias Lopez; Johan Silfwerbrand; Leena Korkiala-Tanttu; KTH; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Discrete element method; granular materials; particle-scale behaviour; particle degradation; permanent deformation; resilient modulus; rockfill embankment; soil fabric; Diskreta elementmetoden; grusmaterial; verkningssätt på partikelnivå; nedbrytning; permanent deformation; styvhet; stenfylld bank; skelettstruktur; Transport Infrastructure; Transportinfrastruktur;

    Sammanfattning : Unbound granular materials (UGM) are widely used as load-bearing layers and for embankment construction within transport infrastructures. These play a significant role on operation and maintenance of transportation systems. However, pavement and railway engineering still today rely heavily on empirical models based on macroscopic observations. LÄS MER

  2. 2. An Ontology-Based Platform for Information Integration : Supporting Sustainable Smart Transportation Infrastructure

    Författare :Wiebke Belitz-Hellwich; Nicole Kringos; Annika Gram; Romain Balieu; Vangelis Angelakis; KTH; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Ontology; Semantic Web; Interoperability; Information Integration; Logistics; Simulation; Smart Port; ontologi; semantisk webb; interoperabilitet; informationsintegration; logistik; simulering; smart hamn.; Bro- och stålbyggnad; Structural Engineering and Bridges;

    Sammanfattning : Transportation and transportation infrastructure are major contributors to global emissions. Even though most of these emissions can be attributed to fuel consumption of vehicles, some of it is due to pavement construction and maintenance. LÄS MER

  3. 3. Life cycle assessment of transport systems and transport infrastructure : Investigating methodological approaches and quantifying impacts at project and network levels

    Författare :Carolina Liljenström; Anna Björklund; Susanna Toller; Rolf André Bohne; KTH; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Strategier för hållbar utveckling; Strategies for sustainable development;

    Sammanfattning : Reducing greenhouse gas emissions from the transport sector is a key challenge to reach global climate targets and limit global warming to below 2 ºC. The use of life cycle assessment (LCA) may provide knowledge about the environmental impacts of transport systems so that emission reduction measures can be identified. LÄS MER

  4. 4. Ny väg till nya vägar och järnvägar : Finanseringspragmatism och planeringsrationalism vid beslut om infrastrukturinvesteringar

    Författare :John Hultén; Statsvetenskapliga institutionen; []
    Nyckelord :SAMHÄLLSVETENSKAP; SOCIAL SCIENCES; pragmatism; rationalism; railway investments; road investments; transport infrastructure; co-financing; alternative financing; investment planning; planning; Decision-making process;

    Sammanfattning : Investment planning is a decision-making process with specific characteristics. It is often seen as a rational quest for solutions that are in the public interest, and the dominant discourse tends to be technical and economic. LÄS MER

  5. 5. New perspectives on Strategic Choice of Measures in Swedish Transport Planning

    Författare :Sofia Eckersten; Berit Balfors; Ulrika Gunnarsson-Östling; Fredrik Pettersson-Löfstedt; KTH; []
    Nyckelord :Land and Water Resources Engineering; Mark- och vattenteknik;

    Sammanfattning : Rapid changes in the global climate and declining biodiversity pronounces the need for adapting the transport system and transport infrastructure, which influence several sustainability issues and cause direct environmental impact through their use of land, as well as indirect impacts, for example, emissions of pollutants to air and water. The Swedish Transport Administration (STA) is responsible for and conducts a large part of the transport planning in Sweden and the STA endeavor to increase collaboration with other societal actors in transport planning.
