  1. 11. Networks of urban interaction - Growth and centrality in the complex geography of urban activity

    Författare :Alexander Hellervik; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Nyckelord :SAMHÄLLSVETENSKAP; SOCIAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; SAMHÄLLSVETENSKAP; SOCIAL SCIENCES; accessibility; power law; urban activity; centrality; urban growth; transport infrastructure; spatial interaction; complex networks; Zipf’s law;

    Sammanfattning : How cities and regions grow and decline depend on technological, social and economic factors. Understanding the interplay of these forces is central in research efforts aiming to improve urban and transport planning. LÄS MER

  2. 12. Security in Physical Distribution Networks - A Survey Study of Swedish Transport Operators

    Författare :Luca Urciuoli; Teknisk logistik; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; antagonistic threats.; supply chain security; cargo security; physical distribution security; transportation security; cargo theft; Quantitative Risk Assessment;

    Sammanfattning : The objective of this study is to understand what factors influence the security of physical distribution networks. Thereafter it aims to bring to light what security measures exist today to enhance security and finally how to determine the profitability of security investments. LÄS MER

  3. 13. Stress, Flow and Particle Transport in Rock Fractures

    Författare :Tomofumi Koyama; Lanru Jing; Marc Boulon; KTH; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Numerical simulation; laboratory experiments; rock fracture; coupled stress-flow-tracer test; shear displacement; fluid flow; particle transport; finite element method FEM ; particle tracking method; Navier-Stokes equation; Reynolds equation; streamline velocity dispersion.; Geoengineering; Geoteknik;

    Sammanfattning : The fluid flow and tracer transport in a single rock fracture during shear processes has been an important issue in rock mechanics and is investigated in this thesis using Finite Element Method (FEM) and streamline particle tracking method, considering evolutions of aperture and transmissivity with shear displacement histories under different normal stresses, based on laboratory tests. The distributions of fracture aperture and its evolution during shear were calculated from the initial aperture fields, based on the laser-scanned surface roughness features of replicas of rock fracture specimens, and shear dilations measured during the coupled shear-flow-tracer tests in laboratory performed using a newly developed testing apparatus in Nagasaki University, Nagasaki, Japan. 4. 14. Generation of Leachate and the Flow Regime in Landfills

    Författare :David Bendz; Avdelningen för Teknisk vattenresurslära; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; teknisk geologi; Hydrogeologi; geographical and geological engineering; Hydrogeology; model; transport; flow; leachate; water; hydrology; landfill; MSW; teknisk geografi; Geophysics; physical oceanography; meteorology; Geofysik; fysisk oceanografi; meteorologi;

    Sammanfattning : The environmental impacts of landfills are associated mainly with the emission of leachate and biogas. Sanitary landfilling aims to stabilize the landfill in a efficient and controlled way, so that the environmental impacts are minimized. When a sanitary landfill has attained its final storage quality, it can be integrated into the environment. LÄS MER

  5. 15. Managing the risk for antagonistic threats against the transport network

    Författare :Daniel Ekwall; Högskolan i Borås; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; supply chain management; supply chain security; risk management; transport networks; crime prevention; Kvalitetsdriven logistik;

    Sammanfattning : The World Trade Centre terror attack in 2001 changed the world and with it the conditions for logistics worldwide. The aftermath of the attack brought needed attention to the vulnerability of modern supply chains. This thesis addresses the antagonistic threats that exploit the vulnerability in a supply chain.
