    Sammanfattning : This thesis addresses the technical and linguistic aspects of discourse-level processing in phrase-based statistical machine translation (SMT). Connected texts can have complex text-level linguistic dependencies across sentences that must be preserved in translation.     Sammanfattning : Ribosomes stalled on problematic mRNAs can be rescued by a mechanism called trans-translation. This mechanism employs a dual transfer-messenger RNA molecule (tmRNA) together with a helper protein (SmpB). In this work we have used an in vitro translation system with pure components to further clarify the roles of tmRNA and SmpB in trans-translation. LÄS MER

Five translation students and 5 professional translators from German-speaking Switzerland and 4 translation students and 6 professional translators from Sweden were asked to think aloud while translating a user guide from French into German and from French into Swedish, respectively.     Sammanfattning : Whose text is a work of fiction in translation? The aim of this thesis is to examine what happens to a novel when it is translated from one language into another.
