  1. 1. Translation, Teamwork, and Technology : The Use of Social and Material Scaffolds in the Translation Process

    Författare :Raphael Sannholm; Yvonne Lindqvist; Hanna Risku; Mona Blåsjö; Maureen Ehrensberger-Dow; Stockholms universitet; []
    Nyckelord :HUMANIORA; HUMANITIES; cognitive translation studies; socio-cognitive approaches; ethnography; translation workplace; translation process; scaffolding; extended translation; social interaction; translation technology; Translation Studies; översättningsvetenskap;

    Sammanfattning : This dissertation explores translators’ interactions with social and material resources in the translation process. The general aim of the study is to contribute to the knowledge about cognitive translation processes in naturalistic settings, with a specific focus on the ways in which translators interact with social actors and technological resources. 2. 2. -ein allzu weites Feld? : zu Übersertzungstheorie und Übersetzungspraxis anhand der Kulturspezifika in fünf  Übersetzungen des Romans "Ein weites Feld" von Günter Grass

    Författare :Pernilla Rosell Steuer; Helmut Müssener; Per Øhrgaard; Stockholms universitet; []
    Nyckelord :HUMANIORA; HUMANITIES; Translation; culture; culture-specific words; the Foreign; translation theory; translation practice; literary translation; readership; translation methods; translation strategies; German history; Günter Grass;

    Sammanfattning : The present dissertation investigates literary translation from a cultural perspective by comparing the translation of culture-specific words and concepts in five different translations of the novel Ein weites Feld by Günter Grass. The translations were chosen to represent three ‘small’ (Swedish, Danish, Norwegian) and two ‘large’ (American English, French) languages and cultures, in order to find out whether these categories are characterized by different ‘foreignizing’ or ‘domesticating’ translation methods. 3. 3. Begriplig EU-svenska? : Klarspråksarbetets förutsättningar inom den interinstitutionella översättningsprocessen

    Författare :Saga Bendegard; Björn Melander; Catharina Nyström Höög; Mona Blåsjö; Uppsala universitet; []

    Sammanfattning : This thesis is a study of the inter-institutional translation process through which the Swedish versions of EU legislative acts are created, focusing on the conditions for plain language work within this process. These Swedish translations have long been considered incomprehensible. LÄS MER

  4. 4. Adaptive Evolution of the Bacterial Translation Machinery

    Författare :Arindam De Tarafder; Suparna Sanyal; Michael Y. Pavlov; Ruben L. Jr. Gonzalez; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Ribosome; Translation; Translation machinery; Elongation; Evolution; RNA world; Cold bacteria; Molekylär biovetenskap; Molecular Life Sciences;

    Sammanfattning : The process of protein synthesis via translation is of paramount importance for the existence of life on Earth. The bacterial translation machinery has embraced more than 3.5 billion years of molecular evolution to adapt and function efficiently under the provided physiological conditions. LÄS MER

  5. 5. Dynamics in Protein Synthesis, Structural Studies of Translation Factors

    Författare :Martin Laurberg; Biokemi och Strukturbiologi; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Molecular biophysics; Flexibility; Fusidic Acid; tRNA; Translation Factors; Ribosome; Molekylär biofysik;

    Sammanfattning : Protein biosynthesis is performed on ribosomes. The ribosome is a complex of ribosomal RNA and proteins forming two subunits. A messenger RNA strand is decoded on the small subunit by charged aminoacyl transfer RNA (aa-tRNA) molecules and each tRNA molecule delivers its amino acid to the growing polypeptide chain on the large subunit.
