11. Changes in gene expression during delayed neuronal death after cerebral ischemia in the rat
Sammanfattning : After transient global cerebral ischemia, selected populations of neurons in the brain will die after a period of 2-3 days, a phenomenon termed delayed neuronal death. This is of clinical importance as delayed neuronal death has been found to occur in humans as well. LÄS MER
12. Stability analysis of channel flow laden with small particles
Sammanfattning : This thesis deals with the stability of particle laden flows. Both modal and non-modal linear analyses have been performed on two-way coupled particleladen flows, where particles are considered spherical, solid and either heavy or light. When heavy particles are considered, only Stokes drag is used as interaction term. LÄS MER
13. Material properties related to fire spalling of concrete
Sammanfattning : Despite almost 100 years of research, the fundamentals of fire spalling of concrete are not yet fully understood. Many different theories exist, each trying to describe the coupling between different phenomenon leading to fire spalling. Some of these phenomenon have been investigated and are presented in this thesis. LÄS MER
14. Linear and non-linear dynamics of non-autonomous flows
Sammanfattning : Fluid flows subject to time-dependent external forces or boundary conditions are ubiquitous in biology and technical applications. Whether one considers birds flying by flapping their wings or the gust response of wind turbines, the flow is non-autonomous. LÄS MER
15. Thermal Modelling of Water-Based Floor Heating Systems - supply temperature optimisation and self-regulating effects
Sammanfattning : Low temperature water-based concrete embedded floor heating systems are studied. The utilisation of low quality heat sources is facilitated by low temperature heating. Theoretical models which describe the transient thermal floor heating operation constitute the basis for the analysis. LÄS MER
