1. Sound Field Design for Transducer Array-Based Acoustic Levitation
Sammanfattning : Acoustic levitation is a technique where sound waves are used to hold an object at a designated position, suspending it against other external forces and keeping it stable in the desired position. Transducer arrays are an arrangement of many loudspeaker elements, tuned such that the array creates a sound field that is too complicated for the individual elements to produce on their own. LÄS MER
2. Ultrasonic Arrays for Sensing and Beamforming of Lamb Waves
Sammanfattning : Non-destructive testing (NDT) techniques are critical to ensure integrity and safety of engineered structures. Structural health monitoring (SHM) is considered as the next step in the field enabling continuous monitoring of structures. LÄS MER
3. Submillimeter-Wave Waveguide Frontends by Silicon-on-Insulator Micromachining
Sammanfattning : This thesis presents novel radiofrequency (RF) frontend components in the submillimeter-wave (sub-mmW) range implemented by silicon micromachining, or deep reactive ion etching (DRIE). DRIE is rapidly becoming a driving technology for the fabrication of waveguide components and systems when approaching the terahertz (THz) frequency range. LÄS MER
4. Integration of Surface Acoustic Wave and Microfluidic Technologies for Liquid-Phase Sensing Applications
Sammanfattning : This thesis discusses a new concept for construction of a novel SAW in-liquid sensor employing surface acoustic wave resonance (SAR) in a one-port configuration. In this concept, the reflective gratings of a one-port SAW resonator are employed as mass loading-sensing elements, while the SAW transducer is protected from the measurement environment, reducing power losses significantly. 5. On electronics for measurement systems
Sammanfattning : This thesis collects the work performed by the author on electronics for measurement systems. The first part is the work performed on the EISCAT 3D ionospheric research radar, including two papers on the investigations on required performance, electronics design, and proof of concept signal processing.
