  1. 21. Interplay between Transcription and Homologous Recombination in the Presence of DNA Damage

    Författare :Ivaylo Stoimenov; Thomas Helleday; Niklas Schultz; Natalia Issaeva; Thierry Nouspikel; Stockholms universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; homologous recombination; transcription; DRB; UVC; 6-thioguanine; mammalian cells; BRCA1; BRCA2; PARP inhibitors; XP-V; Molecular biology; Molekylärbiologi; molekylärgenetik; Molecular Genetics;

    Sammanfattning : The biochemical processes of DNA repair, replication and recombination compete for the same substrate, the DNA molecule. This competition is natural, as each process requires the same template. In order to resolve possible conflicts between these processes, when they take place on a particular stretch of DNA, certain crosstalk is expected. LÄS MER

  2. 22. ATPase dependent and independent roles of Brahma in transcription and pre-mRNA processing

    Författare :Simei Yu; Neus Visa; Ann-Kristin Östlund Farrants; Christian Muchardt; Stockholms universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; chromatin remodeling; transcription; alternative splicing; 3 -end processing; Molecular Biology; molekylärbiologi;

    Sammanfattning : SWI/SNF is a chromatin-remodeling complex and Brahma (BRM) is the ATPase subunit of SWI/SNF. BRM regulates transcription by remodeling the nucleosomes at promoter regions. BRM is also associated with RNA and affects pre-mRNA processing together with other SWI/SNF subunits. LÄS MER

  3. 23. Herpes Simplex Virus 1 DNA replication and its role in recombination and transcription

    Författare :Ka-Wei Tang; Göteborgs universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Herpes Simplex Virus 1; DNA replication; DNA recombination; Transcription;

    Sammanfattning : Herpes simplex virus 1 (HSV-1) is one of nine different herpesvirus infecting man. They are all capable of establishing a life-long latent state following the primary infection. HSV-1 as well as other herpesviruses may reactivate from the latent state and give rise to a productive infection with clinical symptoms or asymptomatic shedding. LÄS MER

  4. 24. Transcription, splicing and genetic structure within the human endogenous retroviral HERV-H family

    Författare :Mats Lindeskog; Institutionen för naturgeografi och ekosystemvetenskap; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Microbiology; immunosuppressive envelope protein; RNA splicing; Human endogenous retrovirus; transcription; bacteriology; virology; mycology; Mikrobiologi; bakteriologi; virologi; mykologi;

    Sammanfattning : Human endogenous retroviruses (HERVs) are remains of ancient retroviral infections of the germ line and constitute as much as 3 % of the human genome. HERVs are genetic elements that potentially may provide important biological functions by several different mechanisms. LÄS MER

  5. 25. lac of Time : Transcription Factor Kinetics in Living Cells

    Författare :Petter Hammar; Johan Elf; Antoine van Oijen; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; gene regulation; transcription factor; lac operon; facilitated diffusion; single molecule imaging; Molecular Biotechnology; Molekylär bioteknik;

    Sammanfattning : Gene regulation mediated by transcription factors (TFs) is essential for all organisms. The functionality of TFs can largely be described by the fraction of time they occupy their regulatory binding sites on the chromosome. DNA-binding proteins have been shown to find their targets through facilitated diffusion in vitro. LÄS MER
