6. Oxygen-dependent regulation of transcription by the hypoxia-inducible factor-1
Sammanfattning : Under limited oxygen availability (hypoxia) cells undergo rapid reprogramming in order to survive in the new environment until normoxic conditions are re-established. The observation that hypoxia can induce the expression of genes involved in erythropoiesis, angiogenesis and glucose metabolism among others, led to the identification of the hypoxia-inducible factor-1 (HIF-1) as a master regulator of the hypoxia-response pathway. 7. The glucocorticoid receptor as a regulator of cortisol responses in cortisol resistant patients and healthy subjects
Sammanfattning : Glucocorticoids are essential for life, and are involved in growth, reproduction, intermediary metabolism, immune and inflammatory reactions as well as central nervous system and cardiovascular functions. Glucocorticoids are also used as treatment of many diseases. LÄS MER
8. RUNX1/AML1 functions and mechanisms regulating granulocyte-macrophage colony-stimulating factor transcription
Sammanfattning : Granulocyte-macrophage colony-stimulating factor (GM-CSF) is a multipotent cytokine involved in the production and function of hematopoietic cells, and GM-CSF plays in particular a major role in responses to infection and physiological and pathological inflammatory processes. GM-CSF is produced in many cell types, and increases in the intracellular Ca2+ concentration are, like in many other systems, of major importance in the intracellular signaling that determines GM-CSF expression after receptor stimulation of the cells. 9. On the structure-function relationship of p73
Sammanfattning : The development of multicellular organisms requires a balance between the cellular processes of proliferation, differentiation and death. These processes are important throughout the whole life of the organism. Daily, the DNA in our cells is under attack by agents that can cause damage. LÄS MER
10. Studies on the regulation of the Napin napA promoter by ABI3, bZIP and bHLH transcription factors
Sammanfattning : The B3-domain transcription factor ABI3 is a major regulator of gene expression of seed maturation during Arabidopsis embryogenesis. The napA gene encodes for a Brassica napus 2S storage protein specifically expressed in the embryo during the early and mid-maturation phase (MAT program). LÄS MER
