  1. 1. Trametes versicolor as biodegrader and biocatalyst when using lignocellulose for ethanol production

    Författare :Marie Holmgren; Anita Sellstedt; Mohammad Taherzadeh; Umeå universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Lignocellulose; 5-carbon; 6-carbon; Trametes versicolor; xylose reductase; xylitol dehydrogenase; xylulokinase; phenolics; levulinic acid; HMF; furfural; biodegrader; biocatalyst; pretreatment; xylanase; beta-glucosidase;

    Sammanfattning : Energy consumption has increased rapidly during the last century due to population growth and greater industrialization. Lignocellulosic-based biofuels are being developed as alternatives to fossil fuels. For many years the question of how 5-carbon sugars in biomass are utilized in nature has been a vexed one. LÄS MER

    Sammanfattning : The ever-increasing concern about the widespread occurrence of pharmaceutical substances in the aquatic environment has been recognized as an emerging environmental issue as it can cause undesirable effects on the ecosystem and human health. The current wastewater treatment methods are not designed to treat municipal wastewater from the contamination of various pharmaceutical substances. LÄS MER

  3. 3. Fungal degradation patterns and toxicity of furfurylated wood

    Författare :Annica Pilgård; RISE; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Daphtox; Quantitative real-time PCR; Furfurylation; Microtox; Basidiomycota; Acetylation; Wood modification.; Daphnia magna; Thermal modification; Trametes versicolor; Decay; Vibrio fischeri;

    Sammanfattning : The demand for timber products is increasing with global population and affluence. Concerns regarding conventionally used toxic wood preservatives and the deforestation of tropical forests have become more prominent both socially and politically. Wood based products are generally recognised as an environmentally favourable raw material. LÄS MER

  4. 4. Investigation of degradation of toxic substances in fungal cultures by mass spectrometric techniques

    Författare :Åke Stenholm; Mikael Hedeland; Pablo Campo Moreno; Uppsala universitet; []

    Sammanfattning : Micropollutants in water are biological or chemical contaminants that are present in ground and surface waters in trace quantities. They are a result of human activity and include pharmaceutically active compounds (PhACs) and endocrine disrupting compounds (EDCs). LÄS MER

  5. 5. In vitro and in vivo oxidation of diastereomers of lignin models of arylgylcerol b-aryl ether type and heterologous expression of laccase

    Författare :Christina Bohlin; Leif Jönsson; Ming Tien; Karlstads universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Biochemistry; Biokemi; Kemi; Chemistry;

    Sammanfattning : Enzymic and non-enzymic oxidation of lignin models of the arylglycerol β-aryl ether type was investigated in experiments aimed at providing a better understanding of the initial phase of biological lignin degradation. Product profiles and diasteromer selectivity were determined to gain knowledge of the properties of the oxidants and pave the way for evaluation of the presence of the oxidants in ligninolytic fungal cultures.
